Hi all.. Merry Christmas..!

Seeing a few of these in the 'EE for very good prices,...how are they overall ?... comfortable to hold and decently accurate?...what say you ?

I really like mine and the accuracy is great with Remington umc 124g, very comfortable to shoot and mine does not like American eagle of any weight it does well with winchester white box as well
Alot of people are selling them because of the striker issue and it being able to fire OOB but it's really a non issue for target shooters
Most of the ones in canada have that issue and grech outdoors (our fn warranty shop) should send a replacement although i haven't been able to get an email back

Hi all.. Merry Christmas..!

Seeing a few of these in the 'EE for very good prices,...how are they overall ?... comfortable to hold and decently accurate?...what say you ?

I have a number of FNS in 9 and 40. They fit my hand as close to perfectly, just like any 1911 with a bump beavertail and long trigger, like a Ruger SR1911, Springfield Armory Loaded or Kimber Target does.

My 9s and 40s can shoot 4 inch 10 shot groups, two handed standing, at 15 meters with my full power home cast reloads. That may not be remarkable to some shooters but that’s about as good as I can shoot any handgun these days. Including my 686 and GP100 which could easily do 4 inch groups with my reloads, shot double action, at 25 meters back in the day.

I haven’t shot that many rounds through all of them. My most used 9 has less than 3000 rounds through it with no functional failures, FTF, Fire or Eject. One shooter on CGN has reported more than 25,000 on his 9 without any issues.

The Firing Pin accidental discharge issue was taken care of under warranty. “Grech Outdoors” sent me my replacement firing pins within a week of my initial email to them.

BTW, the FNS has been unpopular even way before the firing pin issue was publicized. Google it. It occurs only on very rare instances, where the muzzle is pushed in a specific distance, out of battery (fraction of an inch) and the trigger is pressed at the same time. The AD happens when the slide goes back into battery. I’ve tried to replicate the condition and it did happen 2/3 of the time. I can imagine this happening with ultra careless and totally unsafe gun handling habits or in close quarters combat.

The pricey magazines don’t bother me because I don’t need more than the included 3 magazines.

I usually don’t modify any of my guns. Even my revolvers have stock mainsprings and trigger return springs. I have had 1911’s customized 30 yrs ago when I shot IPSC. So the lack of after market competition parts or accessories for the FNS does not bother me.

I bought my FNSs before the AD issue, because I shot a friend’s 9 and couldn’t believe a polymer gun could be so well made, accurate and cheap.

I own 2 FNS9LS models, both have over 20,000 rounds thru them, the wife's is over 25,000. They both look brand new, the build quality on these pistols is amazing and I still maintain they are the best value in a striker fired pistol on the market. As far as accuracy goes, Dave Sevigny won numerous championships with an FNS9LS as FN's factory sponsored shooter, so I'm going to say it's as accurate as any gun on the circuit. I have never had a FTF, FTE, that wasn't ammo related so in my opinion dependability is stellar, people say " would you trust your life to it", this is a gun that I would.
Some of the things I really like are the fully ambidextrous features, the mags are steel, and every single interior part is steel, no plastic parts! People have #####ed about the trigger being " rough" but I have found mine has only gotten better with use, and is pretty damn good and easily on par with my Glocks( not saying much I know lol) and to be honest probably nicer.
Gretch were a bit of a PITA to get the new striker from to do the upgrade, but if you bug them enough you will get one hahaha
In closing, all I can say is these have been great guns for us, and even though I now shoot Glocks in competition I still can't bring myself to sell the FNS and enjoy shooting it every time I pick it up. If you buy one, I'm sure you won't regret it, especially at the price you can pick them up for these days!

I got the replacement necessary within a few days. Awesome pistol.

The one I shot was a jammatic. Faliures to feed failures to fire. The owner was going to send it back for warranty. Fixing the failure to fire issue might be a lot easier than the feeding issue. Factory round ball should not be an issue with any 9MM pistol.

Take Care

Bob

I ordered one a couple of weeks ago. It comes Friday... just in time for the range to be closed.

I guess I'll get pretty good at dry firing it :)
