FN Fnx 45 tactical

Well I live in the bush so I can't go to a retailer to feel one first so I'm looking for imput on the grip size compared to a cz97 as I have one of them and am able to grip it farely well. I have small hands!

Hello Folks

So my two cents on the FNX. I have the FNX9 which as far as I understand the grip sizes are about the same. I love this Pistol. My duty Rig is a Smith&Wesson M&P 9mm. And before this I am a huge CZ fan. Now I have big palms but short fingers so I like my CZ with the slim grips but if I was to compare the two as stock I prefer the FNX. I find the safety/decocker and ambi mag release are very easy to reach and utilize. I was looking for a new IDPA pistol and this came up as having all the features I wanted ( these are my personal taste, to each their own ). Since my Duty pistol is the S&W and first introduction to Polymer pistols I have become quite accustomed to it. So I ventured into getting my own. I looked at the CZ P07/P09 but decided to expand my collection and try the FN product. After Handling it I soon realized the FNX felt right in my hand. The completely ambidextrous controls make this ideal for right or left handed shooters. The rough texture of the grip I love as well because after the first shot I feel it secures itself in my hands and allows a solid grip. But for the soft handed individual they may want to wear gloves.
Also a complaint I read and watched in reviews was of people disengaging the safety to far and causing the weapon to decock. Well as I said before I have big meaty paws but short fingers. This pistol when I draw from cocked and locked I disengage the safety and where my hand wraps around the grip the safety drops down perfectly but never to far as my hand is seated up and tight and does not allow the safety to extend the full length down to decock. For the long and slim handed guys maybe this could be a problem or maybe it's too low of a grip.
I also purchased two more Mags from Brownels and shipped here in Canada and only 10 days time. Since finding the mags here in Canada recently has proven far near impossible.

Anyways boys and girls just a bit of information. Also here's a pic.

I have the FNX tactical and I bought it off the EE. Triangle RMR works awesome on it and its the most accurate pistol I have shot. The safety issue is not a problem, I have never decocked it by mistake when taking the safety off. It takes considerably more pressure to decock then just turn the safety off. Never shot it gloves, and its big but less then I thought. I really have no complaints at all, if you like small pistols it will feel large, but its not pretending to be small either. Never had an issue with the squishy grip magwell, but I am not shooting it in any extreme heat either.
It gets heavy when you attach a bunch of tacticool stuff on it, like the sight and I have a TLR1 on it as well, but I really don't mind the weight...

Finally got a sweet black one in my hands. Feels good, it's not to big for my hands, feels close in wieght to my cz75 and close in size as well!! I could do with out the ambi mag release and then my triggered finger would reach a bit more but it's fine, I was worried as I have small hand syndrome but so far there not an issue. The trigger feels stiffer then the 75 or the 97 and seems a bit toyish this my first poly pistol so...all in all I'm a happy happy guy. I'm excited to get it to the range. Thanks nutz

Glad you got one of your own now! They are great to have in the collection. I find the mechanics of mine are a bit clunky (trigger and safety) and my RMR gets dirty fairly quickly but she's super accurate and the fun factor is high not to mention the gun has ### appeal. She's a keeper.

Yep it's a keeper and I'll be passing on to my kids, playing with it some more and man the slide release is not friendly!!!! But I've just noticed it's the same style as glock said an sigs.
