Unless I'm looking at a long-ago cached version of Questar's website they've got a handful of FS2000s for sale...it's been a long time since I saw these for sale new. I bought my first one a couple of years ago, sold it, then missed it so much I bought another. For sure they've got their quirks, but I've always liked owning something a little unique. :) I posted my thoughts a couple of years ago on my first one here...here's my latest incarnation. Who else is looking to join the club?

I saw them for sale last weekend put an order in for one. I was going to get them to send it to my gunsmith in Ontario to save me about 2 weeks in shipping time and 150 bucks in shipping back and forth from On to AB back to ON. They would not do it no matter how much I pleaded. After having seen what they had done to Blaxsun and Angryeyebrows plus my own bad expierences in the past with I was like F this and canceled my order. (Which they didn't even want to allow me to do). As soon as my Noveske comes from in I am done with Questar. They have gone way down hill without Mark. I will never order from them again.

Great carbine... Mine has a NR barrel which was threaded to accept the factory brake...you can't even tell that it was lengthened.
That would be the ticket--since the factory barrel is 17.4" anyway you'd only be adding a bit more than an inch. Back before the end of the LGR it didn't matter as much but it'd certainly be nice now to have a NR version.

You'd be adding quite a bit more than an inch; the factory brake is at least 2", so you'd be looking at a 20.5" barrel minimum.

The muzzle brake is longer than a typical AR brake, but the majority of its length is at the rear - and that slides down over the barrel. I think it actually conceals the added 1" length very well.

Before I was always under the idea that they came as nonrestricted. I guess not. Barrel length is so close too.
The military-issued version, the F2000, has a 15.75" barrel so I'm guessing the longer one on the FS was designed to comply with US barrel-length regulations. It's a shame they didn't add a smidge more for us!

When I bought mine it was already re-classifies as non restricted. Kodiak Outpost was a great company to deal with and they used the same gunsmith as I do for all their barrel work. I am more than comfortable with the work that he does. I also liked the idea of a factory brake as opposed to standard AR that was on the NR threaded barrels from Questar. I've installed a 1x4 optic on mine since that photo but looking at it again, i'll probably put the factory glass back on again.

Well, let's face it.
The only reason we have been getting short barreled handguns that fit our laws(ex: SW 686 with the 106mm barrel) would be because California and their new laws.

Ah, good to know - appreciate the clarification (thanks). Mine has a heavier profile NR barrel, so the factory brake isn't an option; I just went with a Surefire flash hider instead.

I know questar had barrels for the FS2K and the PS90. Not really an end user installation. I removed the factory restricted barrel from my PS90 and it was a bit of a C U next Tuesday. Herron Arms did a fantastic job making up the custom barrels for all my conversions. The only one that wasn't done directly was with the FS2K, as Kodiak had a bunch done at once. The tough part about the FS2K is the offset gas tube. I got a great deal on mine as it was the last one they had in stock.

I believe mine is a Herron Arms conversion... I think the factory FH makes it look almost like stock... you can hardly tell it's NR! The end of the barrel actually sits a little more than 1/2 way into the FH.
