I am having a hard time trying to put a value and age on this old rifle I have.
It is a model 1900 FN semi-auto .35 cal. Best as I can tell it is the Belgin built version of the Remington Model 8 but was a very short production run (about 4900 units) compared to the model 8 which was built for 30 years. JMB designed the rifle but due to agreements with remington he could only produce and distribute them oversea's and so they were built by FN. From what I can tell most of the FN versions did not make it through the wars. Mine is in good working order but the blueing is at only about 50% and there is a hairline crack in the butt.

Has a page on the FN 1900 rifle.
Also a forum dedicated to the Rem 8
An owner from Belgium mentioned the 1900 being used in WW1 for French aviation.

However I'm sure some research could prove or deny that fact.

anyone else gotta clue?

kewl,
Thanks I will check it out. I can upon this in an estate sale didn't have a clue what it was ....it was even registered as unknown. Never it but thought it was too weird and cool to pass up.I will check out that group for more info... more interested in dating it and getting some background than I am for the value..... it is for sure the oldest semi-auto I have seen.

Fn 1900

I had one about 20 years ago, If I recall there was two models, standard and deluxe. I had the deluxe. Bought it from a dealer if I remember for $400.00. It had a solid rib down the barrel and checkering. It was about 60% condition, and functioned very well. It was in 35 rem. and not the most accurate rifle I have owned. Hunted one year with it then traded it back in for something else. Got $400.00 towards my purchase. So 20 years later your guess is as good as mine as for value. Good luck.
zouave.
