I acquired this rifle from my father who had a pair of them . He gave me the one that needed some TLC.

Here are some before pictures:

I took it completely apart besides the Bolt and cleaned all the metal parts and used a wood finish stripper to remove the poor attempt someone had made at refinishing the stock before my dad came into possesion of the rifle.

I then used sand paper(220, and 600 grit) ,a pad that basically replicates 000 steel wool and finally 0000 steel wool to sand the stock , after I applied 3 coats of Boiled Linseed Oil for the final finish.

I replaced the trigger guard screws because the old sloted ones were mangled , I had to find a screw to replace the missing rear sight adjustment but only found a brass one which will do for now but I want to put a steel one in at a later date when I find the right style, I also used the 0000 steel wool on the metal parts then applied cold bluing to the metal parts to darked some worn areas up( might get the finish redone "right" later.

Here are the pics of the Rifle now:

I am very happy with the outcome from quite honestly very little effort . the final pics dont do it justice the stock is a very nice Oak stock , with only one small dent remaining which I could have tried to get out but for a rifle that possible 90 or more years old I figure it earned the dent.
