As some of you have seen, I have been tinkering with an MP5 like 10/22 build. Based on the limitations that the original 10/22 chassis causes when trying to replicate certain firearms, I had to make some changes to get it as close to the actual shape. Here is a picture of my MP5 as it sits today. Just have some final touches, sanding, blasting then either paint or anodizing to finish it up.

As you can see, it is not a replica but most can identify the gun I was trying to simulate.

Now that I am almost done the Navy, I was looking for a new project. As with the Navy, I would talk to the RCMP before starting but staying within the regs of min length etc..., here is what I came up with. With a little tweaking here, some stretching there, I was able to fit a scale photo of a 10/22 into a P90 skin. Again, not exact replica but the shape is close enough that there would be no doubt what gun is being simulated. The drawing shows a real P90 (top), a covered 10/22 (middle) and a see through shot (bottom) to show where the actual 10/22 would rest inside the chassis.

Toying with the idea. Anyone have any feedback or suggestions?

Hope to be done the navy in a couple of weeks.

Not sure about mag release. Thinking either a linkage or leaving front of trigger guard hollow.

I know aftermarket bullpup stocks are illegal, but if someone made this out of the country in a bullpup configuration and epoxied the receiver into the stock would that possibly make it legal to import? I know the issue with aftermarket bullpups is that they are illegal because the stock is not integral to the firearm. So if it was made integral (by epoxying), would this possibly pave the way to bringing in some aftermarket bullpup stocks?

Not sure if the scale between the two firearms is correct, but it would be neat. 10rd magazines to keep the clean look.

The Bullpup stock is a question for sure but is this technically Bullpup? The dimensions of the stock are similar to a regular ruger stock in length and the firing mechanism/magazine are all forward of the trigger. It may have a similar shape to a known Bullpup but does that make it a Bullpup knowing the gun would essentially be a regular firing 10/22?

I do have a contact at the rcmp that seems very level headed and will be able to tell me Yay or nay. I have spoken to him before I started the navy and he basically said that as long as the original gun functions normally without mods, I could build an anti aircraft looking gun and still be legal. Regardless, I am just messing with the design and will check before I start.

As for the wood parts on the navy build, the 10/22 is too wide to accept any airsoft parts. Also, because I used a 10/22, the scale is off and an airsoft front end would have been too short for this build. I wanted a build that would fit over a standard ruger. The fake suppressor stops at the very tip of the factory barrel making it a decoration and keeping the gun legal. The wood will be painted black and then covered with something like a truck bed spray for that plastic textured look. What would be the fun in gluing airsoft parts on compared to eating a pound of sawdust? Lol

Lone wolf, the scale would be off for sure. Using a 10/22 for this and the navy makes it almost impossible to maintain actual scale. To make it look similar to either gun, I have to sacrifice actual scale and make the parts in proportion to the the ruger to obtain the desired look. Not knowing the measurements of a real navy, I would bet that my ruger wannabe is bigger in all dimensions.

Pretty sure it wouldn't be. Unless you moved the receiver to the rear of the stock and setup a linkage for the action that moved it forward. That's typically what does the aftermarket bullpup stocks in.

Just an idea: if you moved the receive back to the middle of the PS90 stock (the larger hole at the rear) and trimmed the lower portion of the hand guard, you'd have access to the trigger as well as easy magazine changes. And the OAL would decrease, as well.

Man you're setting the bar pretty high with your ideas. Looking forward to pics of construction. My next project is a Barret .50 style using a Savage 64. Picked up the new Savage last spring just for this. Winter's a comin' Did you get a dro on your mill? I have a Grizz X 4 type, put on a set of scales and am loving it.

Metalbender, no dro yet but definitely the next piece of equipment. I expended way too much time with calibers compared to dro.

I thought about a Barret build also. Keep us up to date when you get going on it.

Ah, gotcha. Too bad we just can't get those new Red Jacket ZK-22 stocks...

Guy on my car forums bought one for $250. Americans :/.

He said something about looking like he'd need to re zero the optics every time he cleaned it, but I don't think he's recieved it yet.

No doubt those kits would be slick. The reason I build is to create a gun that is difficult to obtain in Canada but mostly for the satisfaction of making something myself.

Along with some 10-22 projects, I also have a motor mount for a trolling motor, a camera mount for my coyote gun, shooting stick attachments and a dozen other projects on the go.
