Looking for some input from those who converted or bought non restricted PS90 carbines. I have the standard version and am considering the Questar barrel.

I know Stormtrooper has a cool one with a shroud (not the shoulder thing that goes up). So far I know Heuron? And Quester have non restricted options.

Pros/cons and price? Accuracy? Which way would or did you go and why?

Thanks for any info.

I have the Questar barrel and am very pleased with it. It is at least as accurate as the factory barrel was if not a bit better. I don't know anything about the other options out there so can't comment on them.

That looks pretty cool. Thanks.

I really like being able to pop gophers and coyotes with it. Compact, light and easy to carry. The price of ammo isn't even that bad now that Questar is carrying it in bulk.

Herron Arms manufactured mine... It started life as a Green Mountain match grade. Accuracy is excellent, and having one made and installed by a gunsmith may end up being less expensive and yeild better results. Ian hand fits everything and the results are perfect. Plus he submits all the paperwork for reclassification. And you can have it custom made to whatever specifications you want if you choose a gunsmith over a ready made barrel. Also to be noted is that the barrel swap is a bit of a pain in the "6"... I used a mill to remove a little material on the opposite side of the blind pin to get the factory barrel shroud off. Then had to machine a wrench down to fit the the breach end of the barrel for removal. Even though I'm more than comfortable doing the barrel swap myself,I'm also incredibly confident in the work done by Herron Arms.

Regardless which route you pick, the non restricted PS90 rocks the house...

Cheers

Mike

Thanks Mike.

I was wondering about Herron Arms.

The PS90 is a very cool little firearm. I think it will be worth getting the NR done on it. Plus if I can get a true match barrel... :)

I know Ian, like other competent gunsmiths has access to just about anything. Shilen, Green Mountain etc... Ultimately I decided on the Green Mountain for the PS90 for two reasons - 1, Ian's recommendation of quality, and 2, I had an issue with a previous Shilen barrel. We were able to make the gun non restricted and keep it nearly identical to factory length by negating the muzzle brake - which I don't think was required at all in this platform with a long barrel - in original P90 yes - 18.75" barrel, nope.

My wife liked how it broke down so quickly, and bought me a nice Eureka back pack with a small padded laptop pocket inside. The carbine field strips and fits perfectly in the pouch with two mags - plus whatever else I decide to put in the bag - great for day trips :D

That's very cool.

I really like the design of the PS90. I've had my restricted one for a while now. Looking at it I don't see why it couldn't be very accurate with a match barrel. At the cost of 5.7x28 ammo it's wortwhile. Even with reloads.

I also like the shroud on the one you have. Did that come from the gunsmith or was it separate? I gather it replaces the standard sleeves on PS90 barrels?
