Well folks, looks like they will be offering a short barreled version with a 10.3" barrel and not 16".

Now there is a nice "under the bed" gun for ya!
I like the fact that it is lean, mean and OD green, a not the standard black package. Easier to do a custom camo job or leave it as is to stand out from the rest.
On the Impact Gun site they blocked the 50rd mag capacity to 10rds, so there must be a method to reduce them even furthur to 5rds.
Once the RCMP make the final decision on these, it would really make a nice tool for three gun matches. But expensive for plinking.
One can always reload.
So what do you all think about these puppies?
Is it worth 2000USD or pay a bit more and get an FN FS2000?
I would get either one if I had the cash:D

It'd be nice if they could rework it to 17hmr so we wouldn't have to worry about the mag capacity. Gotta get the green light from the RCMP for the ammo that is. Since it's prettymuch a propretary round, I'd expect it to be horribly expensive.

22LR and 5.7x28 aren't a whole heck of a lot different in diameter. Not sure about the length though I don't recall exactly how long a 22LR round is.

That is a really nice looking gun. Although, I would speculate that it would be classified as a pistol/SMG. Thus making the maximum number of rounds 10.

The problem is that 22LR is a rimmed cartridge, the 5.7 X 28 IIRC is rimless, hence the 17 hmr suggestion, as for OAL of the cartridge, the 17 hmr would appear to also be a closer match. And finally regarding the classification, I doubt it would be classed as a pistol/SMG since it's not designed to be fired with one hand, so it'll definitely be classed as a rifle, albeit a restricted one due to OAL. Slap on the 16 inch barrel though and you just <might> make it in the the magical non-restricted OAL, pretending of course that you rework it for a rimfire cartridge. The mag is going to be the major problem, as it would have to be specifically designed for a rimfire cartridge if you want to avoid mag caps.

22lr overall length is about 22mm - 23mm
17hmr (hornady magnum rimfire) is a little longer

But the magazine design works off of a straightwalled casing that doesnt have a curl to the magazine when a bunch of rounds are set side-by-side. Notice the magazine is straight even with 50 rds in it.

Perhaps there are some other choices in cartridges that are straight walled that could utilize the design of the P90 magazine...like the 45acp, 40S&W, 380acp etc...or even the 30 carbine or the 7.65FL

Any other straightwalled rimless casings you guys can think of (regardless of specific calibre)?

Having work on the p90's used on stargate ,it is my 0.02c that converting the gun to any other cal would require a total redesign on the mag(they are very picky to keep working 100%) if they come into canada you will see that the geometry of the feed lips that rotate the cartrige thru 90deg has to be very precise. And the rim dia is unique, not to put a damper on your ideas

USA cannot export SBR's. You'd need to get a 16" model and have it cut down here.

As I pointed out in the other thread, it's actually the other way around. These cannot be imported and sold in the US, SBRs have been banned from import since 1968 for civilian sales because they're "non-sporting". But they can be imported into Canada. The gun is made in Belgium, not the US. Export from the US doesn't come into it.

Again as I said:

Yes, but my point is there is no need to export from the US, they're not made there, they're made in Belgium. The US doesn't come into it, unless you're looking at a grey export. Even then, it would make more sense to export one from Switzerland.
