FN s2000

i dont plan to work in canada, i guess some dont read all the posts. i was simply asking if anyone hand some hands on with either of those rifles and what they thought.

Here's my problem with what you're asking: You're saying you're working a security contract in the summer with a rifle. Now, I'm a civilian with no intention of entering professions where I would be required to shoot at people, so please correct me if my assumption is wrong... But wouldn't such a contract require you to have some sort of formal training (and experience) on a rifle platform? And if you have such a free choice of platforms, wouldn't you choose the system you have the most familiarity with? Almost every modern military/law enforcement agency (where I assume you would have gotten your experience) employs robust designs. If you're given a choice, won't you choose the most familiar one, and surely it's not a bring-your-own-rifle affair...?

I have FS2000 in the past and I do not like it for 5 reasons:
1. The bolt does not stay open after the last round so you will not know you are out of ammo until you pull the trigger.
2. You have to pull and release the charging handle every time you put in a new mag and fire again, unlike just closing the bolt. Thus time consuming.
3. The charging handle is on the left side and cannot be changed. Thus it is not true ambi. I am lefty and find out that pulling the charging handle very difficult.
4. There are certain parts very easy to be broken. eg, internal switch, ejection port cover, and charging handle.
5. The mag does not drop freely when you press the mag release button. You have to manually pull it out. Thus it is not possible for speed reload.

To conclude I think it is not a good battle rifle. However for target practice it is a good one.

lol, that robocop post was very funny, had a good laugh. yes use from a vehicle, i start security contracting in the summer, and wont go into the feild with a rifle i have not trained one, kinda limits me be a canadian but ill find away. and i have done lots of research into both rifles, but there is alot of crap written these days and prefer info from a horses mouth, a horse thats not trying to sell a rifle

For contract work I usually oil myself up , put on a red headband and use a compound bow . But from a vehicle I would suggest some throwing stars and maybe some grenades .

This thread is flirting with awesomeness.:dancingbanana:

It may already be there.

We have someone asking what is better, a fs2000 or an RFB, both in vastly different calibers, for security work, offshore, in a car, but the gun must be non restricted in Canada.

No worries though, tactical operators are always asking these types of questions on an open internet forum

Where do you plan on working and with who? Why don't we clear all this up right now?

As much as I really want a genuine Gecko45 type thread, I don't think it will get that wild. For those who don't know, READ IT: http://lonelymachines.org/mall-ninjas/

You are not related to him are you?

I read the whole gecko45 thread, man those guys were the REAL freakin deal. I can't imagine how brutal that must have been, never knowing when you leave for work if you will be home for supper. Thank god the corporation saw fit to give them all full auto rifles.

In a word: tactiawesome!
