Fn scar

I asked before in a previous FN Scar thread...Not sure if an answer was ever given.
Can't we get them from a Non-American source?
Sure the price will be stupid, but look at what people pay for a G36,UMP,etc.
Can I get my cousins in Germany to buy one and buy it off them in a private sale? (and I wouldn't if it was illegal.....)

Doubtful. Sadly, these are manufactured by FN USA, not FN Herstal.
Germany? Fabrique Nationale de Herstal, Belgique...
Even if they were made in Belgium, consider how many (read: how few) P90's or F2000's are available here...

Oh OK, I understand. To respond to your scenario;
IIRC, Germany is a little sticky about approving export of military firearms to civilians.
Not sure about Belgium but moot point since they are made in Amerika.

They're only assembled in the USA. Parts are all Belgian. There is still a chance of getting it down here if the market can support a few hundred guns. But like most nice things in Canada, there will be no more than 14 guys that will actually buy it. The remaining morons will bemoan the fact that it's not available in 7.62x39mm.
No actually it is all built in the US that is why the FN built a plant in the US to build the M 16 A3 rifles for the DOD and the SCAR program so you give that Idea a rest . The only firearms that are assembled in the US from FN are the FN 5.7 pistol,FN P90 ,FN P90 S,FN 2000 and the FN 2000 S .
Which is sad that we haven't worked out a deal with FN Herstal to sell us the PS90 and FS2000 parts and allow us to assemble them here in Canada.
FN built a plant just like HK did.
I believe it has to do with US import laws. They can't ship in complete rifles, Parts are shipped in...and others are said to be 'Made if the US of A'

The FN importer is R. Nichols is it not? Why not ask them to import a FS2000 or Scar for you?

Meh, you need to study US import restrictions related to foreign manufactured firearms.
Hint: Why do they have SIG 556s but no 550/551/552/553?
Anyway, the point is that they won't export them to us...

I specifically asked the FN rep about the PS90 and he told me they're made in Belgium and he was quite surprised that Canadians had difficulty getting hold of them because they can come straight from Belgium, apparently. He said to nag the Canadian importer.
They also told me the DoD has a contract clause with them that only allows them to sell the SCAR in limited numbers to other customers, which for 2009 apparently is a limit of 4,000 and the State Dept. definitely will not grant export licenses for them in the interests of national security!
Anyway, SCAR pics:

Let's just say it's not the best trigger pull in the world, but it's not the worst either.

With the military stuff it's not so much the import laws, DoD contract awards require the stuff to be US-sourced. Hence why Beretta built a plant in Maryland.
SCAR is in low rate production -- end user operations field trails being done by USSOC - 1800 this year
Figure out that there are over 10,000 DEPLOYED USSOC personnel and SCAR (Specialoperations Combat Assault Rifle) has a few hurdles.
Daniel Defense was given another 5 year contract for SOCOM RISII for the M4A1 so dont get your hopes up for SCAR adoption
