Fn scar?

I intend to get one of those too, I was more interested in the SCAR-H. The idea of it being the FALs grandson is cool to me. Plus I think it looks nicer then the AR-10, or M-14.

SCAR in FRT
The SCARs in the FRT are also most likely the 16" barrel version. FN is offering a 20" as well for the SCAR Heavy (7.62mm) but only an 18" barrel for the Scar Light (5.56mm) and these are for the MK16 and MK17 military versions.
The SCAR light MK16S ("S" is semi auto civilian designation) will ALWAYS be restricted unless they offer a longer barrel, but why would they just for Canada?
The SCAR Heavy MK17S with a 20" barrel would likely be non-restricted but it will be a special order and likely you would have to buy the MK17S with its standard 16.25" barrel and order an extra 20" from the MK17 parts list. Assuming they are compatible then to export it into Canada and have it registered as non-restricted you would have to leave the extra 16.25" barrel behind. Hopefully a dealer could arrange the swap for a small fee.
As for importing a NATO calibre SME from the US it will be difficult. The DOS is considering accepting the export if you sign a DSP-83. I am currently testing the DSP-83 system on a gas piston AR Style 7.62 Nato rifle import into Canada and will update on any progress.

I'd love one of these when they eventually make it to Canada but they are probably going to cost in the neighbourhood of $5k.
