Fn scar?

I would rather have guns used as a political statement ("We are armed, so get used to it") than a social statement ("I have a gun you can't afford!"). Therefore, having access to affordable firearms benefits all gun owners through sheer numbers. When there are only a few guns out there of any type, guess, if you can, which models are most likely to be banned? ;)

The US versus Canadian price for the same rifle does come into my thinking, HOWEVER, as long as Questar provides his Deals I am more than happy.

I have an inquiry into the SCAR 16s and 17S importability question and should have an answer week of Nov 2-6. Will post when known. If yes I will have three in Jan 2010.

On the US side of things or the Canadian side of things? Last I heard the only FRT# for a SCAR was the prohib full auto version.

Because the prohib FRT# came first, before the semi-auto only FRT# can be made this usually means you'd have to submitt a sample to the RCMP were they take all finds of full auto control parts, drememls and welding tools to do their best and make a full auto out of it and declare that it is prohib and can't be imported. They take as much time as they want... I know of one firearm in for review that has been on-going for nearly a year now.

With what, SKSs?

I never understood why people cared so much about price. If you don't have the money, and don't want it, don't buy it. If you have the money and want it, buy it. If you don't have the money and want it, save for it.

A molded plastic rifle with drop in plastic parts meant for military applications would be a failure at that price. The mark up must be massive.
...and i don't buy 4000.00 dollar range only guns. Canadians get raked over the coals when it comes to firearms prices in the Tactical department.
Judging by your trader rating....:kickInTheNuts: ...and 8 AKs would do it FYI.

The MSRP of SCAR is $2675USD.

Military price and civilian prices are not relevant to each other. Of course the mark-up is massive.....but I bet your Nike Sneakers has much more massive mark-up.

Prohibition breeds profit - just like the 20's. If everyone and his dog can get blanket export license for anything - the price will drop. Until then, people who can get the license will make the money. And the customers pay for that "skill".

The FRT has the military SCAR 16 and SCAR 17. If required I will submit one for testing.

The 16s is a semi-auto only model clearly identified as such by FN's website. We submitted formal request to CFC/RCMP some time ago to have this added to the FRT and do not expect any issues. They have not asked for nor have they indicated that they require a sample for inspection.

That makes sense. If they are able to distinguish between the P90 and P90s they should be able to distinguish between the 16 and 17 and the 16S and 17S.

Update on 16S and 17S and FRT

Just got an e-mail from the RCMP Firearms guys today and the 16s and 17s legal classification has not yet been determined and they are awaiting a sample of each model for inspection. Hope that goes well!!

You better not be screwing this up! If your not importing these in then mind your own freaking business!

Nice - Paranoia from Morons

I am importing a different rifle and I just asked what the classification was on the 16s and 17s because I had a line on one in the US for a great price.

If you really think I could screw this up with one question you and the rest of you who thought the same have a serious grey matter deficiency. There are some of us who are not dealers who actually know how to import SME and know what to ask the RCMP.

The RCMP got the P90 and P90s distinction correct. I figure they can get the the others correct too despite your ridiculously misplaced fears.

It is guys like you that make this sight a real downer so why don't all of you who panicked put some band aids on the callouses on your knuckles and run outside and find a personality and some decorum or are those words to big for you?

There are NO ridiculously misplaced fears when dealing with the RCMP gun lab

Ask anyone with a T97 or a Walther .22 bullpup thingy or any of the several Sport Ditrich open bolt guns or or or....etc etc etc

Well they couldn't make the correlation between the GSG-5 and the MP5 or the correlation between the Type97 and its full auto cousin and many more so I think our fears are founded.

I seem to remember another wanker who tried bringing in P90`s a few years ago and that was one fiasco after another which I think ended up with jailtime.

So again mind your own business!

GSG-5 could easily have been mistaken for MP-5. That one should have come as no surprise. They won't even let in Airsoft that looks like a prohib.

Anyone ever get a written explanation for the Type 97. According to some very recent posts that one is still up in the air. I don't know much about it but so far you have two examples. And how many others have come through?

Really. Look up the definitions of possible (sure it could happen) and probability (what are the chances) and in this case they are low. And if it does happen it will not be because of one question from me.

Maybe they could be on this site and see that someone like OZZ wants to own one and they shut the whole military style arm importing system down in Canada. You never know. Boy if that happened I would be upset. Maybe even a lynchin'. Whooo wee Martha git me the rope that OZZ is gunna swing coz he messed up my new black raafle from cummin in!!!

Grow up.

Well OZZ that guy tried to import without IIC and without DOS. And yet the P90S continues to get imported into Canada. So what is your point?

What you just did was show that despite the fact that some moron tried to illegally import 10 P90s , if I remember the number correctly, that they still get through and that the RCMP did not shut the P90s out of Canada.

Don't ever become a lawyer.

And yes I will mind my own business and if that means making many inquiries to the RCMP about stuff I am working on importing I will.
