I picked up a .270 Win Featherweight a few days ago, with the Grade 2 stock. Nice wood with some feather in the butt and tiger striping from one end to the other. Doesn't weigh anything and yet still manages to point and hold offhand.
Turns out it shoots too, 59 grains of H4831 and a 130 Hornady give enough 1/2" or better groups to make me want them all the time, and enough just under the inch for a reality check. The moniker "Riflemans rifle" was no doubt made up by some advertising agent, but in this case it fits. A classic rifle, in a classic caliber, with nice wood. The amount of rifles I go through leaves few that I'm actually excited about. This is one of them.
