FN Winchesters?

Wholesale Sports has the Model 70 Sporter in 300 WSM on sale right now: $663.96 before tax. I just went out and picked one up here in Calgary. Damn good deal IMO!

Thats for your store tho. Each store has their own deals. The only M70 on sale was the Extreme Weather for $849 which is a hell of deal imo. They also had tikka t3 stainless laminate for $839 too. I just couldnt pull the trigger on any of them right now...tikka felt better to be but the winchester was a nice gun.

I picked up a .270 Win Featherweight a few days ago, with the Grade 2 stock. Nice wood with some feather in the butt and tiger striping from one end to the other. Doesn't weigh anything and yet still manages to point and hold offhand.

Turns out it shoots too, 59 grains of H4831 and a 130 Hornady give enough 1/2" or better groups to make me want them all the time, and enough just under the inch for a reality check. The moniker "Riflemans rifle" was no doubt made up by some advertising agent, but in this case it fits. A classic rifle, in a classic caliber, with nice wood. The amount of rifles I go through leaves few that I'm actually excited about. This is one of them.

Good to know guys. Im up to about $1300 foy my budget, scope, bases rings etc. Im really leaning towards a M70 FWT in 300 win mag or even a Tikka T3 Lam/SS. Best of both worlds with light, accurate durable and I like the magazine option as I do alot of walking and unloading so its easir to pop a magazine in instead of putting 3 rounds in.

Here's my 30-06 FW. I've pondered replacing it with a "premium" rifle but whenever I handle it I wonder "what was I thinking!". Hard to beat for what I paid for it ($700 new taxes/shipping included!).

Topped with a classic and my favourite Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40mm. They go together like PB and Jam!

It also shoots! Took my first big game (deer) with it in the fall. It will have a special place in my heart because of that. Might get a smith to lighten up the trigger by a pound.

Either because nobody wants them, the dealers don't bring them in because they don't think they will sell, or because everyone wants them and they are sold out all the time. I'm leaning toward the former.

My brother wanted one in 308 and after months of looking ended up with one in 30-06. I know they were a shot show special but I think you'd be hard pressed to stop me from buying one in 7x57 if I could find it.

I would love to find a featherweight in 308 Win. They seem hard to find.

I felt the same way last autumn. So I phoned the online Wholesale Sports rep. and asked him to do a computer search of all of their stock in every store across Canada.
Ten minutes later, he told me that he had found only ONE : .. a BNIB Winchester featherweight, walnut/stainless, in .308 .. he said, "the last one in Canada"

So of course I bought it. It's still in the box. Why? .. because I do not really need it, as I have a Sako M85 stainless in .308 which cost 2x as much and MAYBE I like a little bit more. lol.

Beautiful rifle; it looks like this :
