FNAR Troubleshooting

So I finally got to take my FNAR out to the range after purchasing it six month ago. I was shooting Hirtenberger surplus ammo and I encountered a bit of a problem. On most of the shots the bolt would stay open and wouldn't cycle the next round in the magazine. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm thinking it's most likely a gas setting issue or a maybe even the magazine? I would appreciate any insight before I start fumbling with the rifle.

my suggestion would be to try some different ammo. Also the rifle might require some break in period to function reliably.
