FNH USA 3 Gun Championship

Are you guys crossing through NY or Michigan?

I've never tried to bring my AR into NY, I know their restrictions are worse.

Passing through NY isn't a problem...

FEDERAL LAW ON TRANSPORTATION OF FIREARMS

A provision of the federal law known as the Firearms Owners’ Protection Act, or FOPA, protects those who are transporting firearms for lawful purposes from local restrictions which would otherwise prohibit passage.

Under FOPA, notwithstanding any state or local law, a person is entitled to transport a firearm from any place where he or she may lawfully possess such firearm to any other place where he or she may lawfully possess it, if the firearm is unloaded and locked out of reach. In vehicles without a trunk, the unloaded firearm shall be in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console. Ammunition that is either locked out of reach in the trunk or in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console is also covered. FOPA also seems to provide for necessary stops, like gasoline and rest.

Ok....one other thing, are drop leg holsters allowed at the match? I hope I'm just interpreting this wrong

5.3 Tactical Scope division
5.3.1 Firearms must be of a factory configuration. Prototype firearms are specifically
prohibited. Internal modifications are permitted providing they do not alter the external
appearance of the firearm.
5.3.2 Handgun holsters must be a practical/tactical carry style and must safely retain the handgun during vigorous movement. The holster material must completely cover the trigger on all semiautomatic pistols. Revolver holsters must completely cover the trigger and the cylinder. The belt upon which the handgun holster is attached must be worn at waist level. Shoulder holsters and cross draw holsters are prohibited.

THis seems to be a standard rule for all divisions

Log onto Enos and check the FNH thread... I'm sure someone there can answere. Perhaps it's just an oversight that DL holsters aren't covered.

My interpretation of what you posted re. the holster rule does not mean DL's are prohibited.
A DL is attached to the belt just like any other (legal) holster... They're just saying that the belt must be worn at the waist... The rule also says:
"Handgun holsters must be a practical/tactical carry style"

Nothing screans "tactical" like a drop leg rig :D

That said... I don't recall seeing anyone use one at 'Benning, but that's not to say they're not allowed, maybe it just means most shooters think a hip rig is faster...

With all the running/crawling/jumping/climbing movement required in these matches I prefer a nice snug hip holster. I find a thigh rig waaay to floppy and in the way...

Good to see a couple more Canadians going..we can meet and have the canuck corner. Matt these matches rock like nothing you will see up here.

I love the idea of Heavy Metal division

Yeah... It's strangely satisfying to see and hear these stages being shot with .30 cal guns made of iron and wood.

Also... The riflery skills displayed by done of these good ol' boys is impressive.
I think most of us are spoiled by our use of optics.. These guys using their open sights hit the same damn targets we miss.

Convoy, better yet, we should get hold of a school bus.

A short one...?

What do you guys do for mags? Buy 30 rounders once you get south of the border? And what about competing with Saiga 12 guys? Any issues?

Some guys keep a stash of mags state side...
If you don't shoot regularly down there then yeah... Buy a couple, use 'em then give 'em away to a American squad mate...
PMags are like what...$15 ea so big deal...
Cost of playing the game.

As far as competing against Saiga's... Suck it up butter cup and practice :)

Don't worry... There are a few saigas out there but there're not exactly prolific...
Worry about competing against the guy with the worn out looking pump ;-)
