fobus mag pouch any good

I find that Fobus is, if you pardon the pun, a hit and miss proposition. Some of their stuff is OK and others are junk. I have a 4" revolver holster that works fine, but my buddy's Glock holster will not release the gun under any circumstances. For a cheaper product that works better, try Uncle Mike's kydex products or the Blade Tech injection molded line.

I use 2 Fobus doubles for a .45 and find them just fine the hold the mag secure and that is fine for my abilities . When everything else is taken into consideration I don't think the couple of partial secs that i would gain using high end equiptment isn't going to matter a tinkers damn!!!!

For starters..

The first thing i would recommend are good mag pouches. They are more secure, quicker, and more confortable. I recommend nice pouches before a race holster. You wont gain allot of time drawing wiht a race holster but with nice pouches you will notice the difference.

If you are just starting just get 2 CR pouches, the rest can be Fobus.

CR pouches are highly recommended and will fit almost any mags.

I have used the Fobus Glock/HK mag holders for a couple of years. They hold both USP and Glock mags firmly, and fit nicely on my hip. I am not good enough to justify getting any race type mag holders, and so assuming that the single stack mag holders are of the same quality then I would stick with them.

I agree that their holsters are a hit / miss proposition, but when you are talking mag holders it is a lot harder to mess up than a holster.

HOWEVER, for IPSC I would not get the paddle mag holders as these will get annoying. It is much better to get the type that you run your belt through - they are more secure, you can make sure that they do not creep forward of your hip and you have less stuff stuck down your pants!!

Thanks HK. The belt attachment is what I'm considering. I didn't think the paddle type would be secure enough. You've confirmed it.....thanks.

May just get the whole hige end enchilada from Angus and combine the shipping. Might make more sense in the long run, if IPSC works out for me that is.

maybe use the rear two as fobus, and the more forward two (the ones you use the most), as something like CR speed, Guga Ribas, or JR speed, etc....

I have used fobus, and the only problem I have is that they were too stiff, and were too close to my hips, and sometimes I would grab my shirt when i grabbed a mag....

FWIW,

get the holster from Angus but i am sure you can get the pouches cheaper in Canada.
