Typical european mount. They always shot with their heads up, not with the check welded to the stock in the NA style. Lovely rifle there!

I think the height may be because of the high bolt lift. ;)

No, the way europens shoot scopes is to hold their heads upright, as I said. Maybe that mauser saftey lead them to it but that is how they are taught to shoot. Also, look at the drop of the stock. No way you can weld your cheek to that stock.

That is one of the most beautiful rifles I have seen in a long time!

BTW, The scope was made by Hensoldt Wetzlar and is probably worth more to a collector than what you paid for the entire rig. :D
