Food Dehydrator for drying brass?

Some of you guys should write a book called "How to Make Simple Tasks Very Complicated."

If the "dust" bothers you - blow it out/off with the air compressor. Not too sure why anybody would want to bring water into the equation.

Just my opinion.

Please reduce the size of your pictures.
Put the cases on a cookie sheet then into your oven, set on the lowest setting, for 15 minutes. Don't touch 'em for 15 minutes after you take 'em out.
"...you have to wash your brass..." No you don't.

Well there are enough experts in this thread..later

Humm, careful with that onel. I have an oven with a hole in it matching the hole in my clothes dryer from drying some of my loaded rounds on a cookie sheet this way as well... My wife is not impressed, although I find it convenient to stick the thermometer in the turkey, no need to open the oven door anymore!

Why not put them in the microwave for 5 minutes on HIGH so they not only come out dry but annealed and color case hardened ????

....just make sure you crank up the stereo really, really loud before you hit START.

BTW some owners manuals on microwaves might caution against doing this with actual LOADED rounds. f:P::D

Got to love when guys 4000 posts plus cut down Internet questions..I guess I know where all the dumb answers are coming from..lol

It's not the questions it's the quality of them.. I've never washed my brass.. If I want showroom clean I use new brass (but I don't do that very often) if your brass is dusty after tumbling it.. you either have dirty media added the wrong crap too it or too much of it...

I've heard of adding all sorts of things to media varsol, tranny fluid, ed's red, brasso, turtle wax, rubbing alcohol and all sorts of other things... I use a little varsol and a little dillon rapid polish myself and change the media when it starts to look black.... I've had dusty brass but that's becuase the media was shot.. changed the media and put it back through for 20 minutes no problem...

I don't have media get stuck to my brass either... maybe that's the varsol...

Long and short of it.. Cleaning your brass should be one of the easiest parts of reloading.. there is NO thought involved.. dump wait dump shake dump..

dddddd

ffffffff....

Best you could come up with..rolleyes..got something to say..spit it out or are you going sit there and stutter.
I deleted my posts..because there are so many "no it alls" and "question bashers"..that there is no sense in even answering. Its your turn..

Just a question.. what cartridges/chamberings do you reload for?

OK, I'll ask.

Why do you feel you should wet your brass to clean it?

Please don't "question bash:rolleyes:" me, if there's a good reason for this practice - I'd like to know.

Cheers!

has anyone tried throwing them in a pail or bag of dry rice. I havent but I have used it to suck the moisture out of my phone and ipod and it worked quickly and very well. Could be worth trying. Maybe don't eat the rice after though.

I had a media tumbler and was not happy with the results,,my brass had media stuck in the primer pockets like 75%.. media stuck in the cases them selves, used Brasso so they stunk, shook the s**t out of the floor..so I couldn't do it at night when the kids where sleeping..still had to clean the primer pockets out with the pocket what you call it, it didn't clean the insides of the brass, they turned back tarnished in a few weeks..I am sure I am missing a few more..and took forever..I can be done in a couple hours with clean, clean dry brass now.

not that it matters... But I have loaded for 9, 10, 45ACP, 357MAG, 38 special, 38 super, 400 CB, 357 sig, 243, 308, 30/30 and 223 probably missed a couple oh 44 and 45LC

I have dies and brass for 7.62X39 but for the SKS it's cheaper to shoot surplus at the moment...So I've never done any...

I don't have a press at the moment.. But I had a 1050 and two 650's , a 550 and a SDB... (yes I drink the blue cool aid) But it was cheaper to sell them and buy new when we moved however now that I'm headed back to Ontario I'm not sure what I'm doing..
