For a second, I thought this had to be a 10/22...

The comments about the video are hillarious. :D

One poster claims that the .22 bullet can rotate the paint can around and exit towards you causing certain death...although I had to piece this thought together because of the horrible spelling and grammar. LOL!!!

That was a good job of interpretation you did.

aim suckx -.- and if u are unlucky while bullet is inside the spray can it may turn back to you cause after bullet get inside the can if the exist hole rotate and turn towards and you are dead l0l ...

that guy can shoot at me anytime, what a terrible shot. He was only 45 yards away... and that was not a 10/22. You could hear him cycling a what i thought at first was a bolt, but I think it was probably a lever action.

It probably was a 10/22 that jammed every shot!

...nope.

I've probably fired over 2000 rounds with my 597 so far ...and all without a single FTF or FTE.

I'm completely satisfied with the rifle.

Hmm... but you have heard of others with problems with the 597, no? Been some posts here about it. I've had mine for a few years so maybe they have fixed the problems. How long have you had yours? It's a nice rifle when it works, nice barrel and nice wood on the heavy barrel target model.

Glad to hear yours is working so good. Competition for Ruger is always good. Helps keep prices down.

I purchased mine early last winter ('06/'07). By then, any of the early magazine problems were history; I have eight 597 magazines that get used each time I take the rifle to the range and I've never had a problem with any of them. I suspect that having the .22 magnum version may have also helped me avoid any cycling problems ...there being a bit more 'Oomph' to make things move when and how they should every time you pull the trigger.

In all honesty, it really has been a terrific rifle for me...

I bought my son a 597 about 8 years ago and it has been an excellent rifle. I'd say he easily has 8000 rounds through it with almost no FTF or problems of any sort. My 10/22 is far more finicky. Accuracy is about the same between both rifles when using 'select' ammo.

Terry, what shape are your guide rod springs in? I have the HMR version and the damn things are unwinding on me. I bought some new ones from Brownells, hope it doesn't happen again

Sheesh, that guy should get a 10/22, and dont forget the 30 round mag.

I mean if your going to miss, at least use a semi auto so that you can miss quickly :)

Its all about quantity of shots, not quality right?

The old, "If you are going to miss, miss lots"? concept...
