For a sub-$1000, non-restricted gun with Pmag compatibility, this thing ain't bad.

Sean called again today.... turns out that they *think* my gun was "not sold by an authorized vendor" in this country. The saga continues...
Since I've hijacked this thread enough (and my apologies to the OP!), I'll start a new thread. I will keep this ongoing conversation with Kel-Tec and Vault fully public, as things are really starting to get interesting.

Here's another clue I had that gave me the impression Kel Tec didn't really want to do anything for me...

Sean had been saying all along that Kel Tec was willing to fix my upper at no charge, as long as I can get the broken receiver back to them. He even offered to cover the shipping charge from the FFL of his choice in Washington to Florida. Thing is, I can't cross the border with the broken parts to get it to the FFL in the first place...he probably knew this.

Didn't make any sense to me that I had to send the broken part down to Florida, when I had already sent him photos of the broken receiver and the serial number, and it was legit. I asked if he could just send me the replacement parts to an exporter in Washington. I was going to cover the $249 USD that the exporter was going to charge to export the parts to Canada for me. No answer...until the final email that I posted that he couldn't help me after all because of the border issue and lack of warranty.

My gripe is with Vault and not so much with Kel-Tec, as I think there are quite a few border hassles that nobody wants to deal with. Vault, being the only authorized repair centre for Kel-Tec in this country, should have a good inventory of spare parts on hand to fix the myriad of known problems.

No, it's all good.

I WANT TO HEAR about your negative experiences with any dealer or distributor that operates in Canada.

It's good to know that Vault is being pig-headed about some of these issues. I'm sure that I'm not the only one that will consider that before making future purchases.

And just as an aside, I am just venting over my bad experience with Vault and the Sub2K... if my Sub2K worked, and Vault was helpful, I probably wouldn't be wishing I can blow mine up ;) Your SU looks ace.

Just so you all know, the upper receiver of the SU-16 isn't designed to be replaceable whatsoever. They'd have to send you a new upper with the whole barrel and other small parts.

The upper receiver has to be essentially ripped apart to take off the barrel, very strange when you consider they made it a threaded barrel. But there wasn't much point in that since they just plaster the threading in blue lock-tite, which can't be undone unless you can either soak it in acetone or heat it with a propane torch. Which again is impossible to do without ripping off the upper receiver because it isn't designed to separate from the barrel, as is why you have to rip it apart in the first place.

What exactly broke on your SUB2K?
