For a Tavor X95 - Holosun 503 or 515...or something else?

Lots of good red dot options these days. I have beat the schit out of many of them. I sure wouldn't be scared to put any holosun or a Vortex Sparc AR on a x95. Or the Sig options which look like rebranded Holosuns/made by same factory that make Holosun.

The "shake on" aspect of some of them are great -or were great in the past when red dots ate batteries. Nowadays it's less of a concern. If you want a ready to go red dot you can just leave most of them on all the time and replace the batteries Jan 1 and July 1.

Bushnell tr25 are garbage. Eat battieries and don't hold zero with rough use.

Spend $350-600 on a red dot and you will get a good one.

Thanks Gatehouse. I may end up getting the Holosun too if it ever goes on sale or I can find one on the EE. The 503 I like because of the solar powered backup. Maybe the 515 if it gets restocked at LGS

I think the auto turn off on the Sig is 2 minutes whereas the Vortex it is 12 hours. Would be nice if the Vortex has a much lesser interval. Holding the mushy buttons is the thing I like the least about the Vortex and I now own two types of them.

Like many here, the LGS raves about Aimpoints and I am sure they are the Mercedez Benz of optics, but many people are just looking for the Toyota Camry of optics. The EOTech looks interesting too but again, a bit out of my price range at the moment.

I had to look at that price twice to make sure it wasn't a foreign currency. That is crazy for a mount...is it because it's for an Aimpoint?

Like mentioned it’s probably the best mount on the market. It would fit the sig, but afaik vortex doesn’t share a footprint with any other optic.

Finding a cheap 1.93 height or higher mount will be hard as it’s a specialty height and generally only useful with night vision.

This one is one of the cheaper ones but I can’t find one in Canada. https://www.brownells.com/optics-mo...d141413.aspx?avs|Manufacturer_1=REPTILIA+CORP

I’m thinking your T2 is a fake then.

It's not. As far as going to range/plinking besides battery
life I don't know if there is much a noticable difference.. certainly not 800-900 dollars worth of difference. I'm sure the bushnells weaknesses would be exposed through very rough use. But for messing around at the range I've never had an issue . The finest cheapest red dot that I've tried lol

My LGS actually suggested I consider a scope and the one I saw and they recommended was the Vortex Strike Eagle. I did not even consider a scope for the X95 as it was going to be a range gun, maybe 50-150 yards max. The LGS told me some of the reticle features and how it can go hundreds of yards, but I don't have any applications that would need such a distance. I did not consider the optic height and did not realize the X95 had a lower rail - I should have when I tried putting the Strikefire 2 on it and had to really jam my cheek into it to get a good look at the red dot. Placing the Strikefire 2 in different positions made no difference; hence the desire to get what I presumed would be a higher height profile RDS. Both ones I got are better, and I am considering getting that Scalarworks mount, but that would mean a month of feeding my kids cat Whiskas to get by...lol...

I run the t2 with the scalarworks leap 1.93 and it feels really natural with the cheek weld . Highly recommend

I think you just sold me on that mount, much to my kids' chagrin.

At least Costco has bulk pack of Whiskas...

On a different note, I got this pretty good offset ring mount for my light - it mounts it at 1 o'clock so I can actually put the right polymer handguard piece back in as I don't need the picatinny rails anymore - plus the light is close alignment wise with the top of the gun.

Although with the Scalarworks mount that I will order in a minute, I wonder if it would raise the height enough that I can mount the flashlight on the top rail in front (I know it will then render the front sight inoperable). That would be a huge plus, though I still have that darn tape switch that is mounted on the 9 oclock position. Probably will get either a BCM Gunfighter or a Magpul front grip and then the thing will be as I more or less envisioned it.

You might have enough room. Might be close though. I have a chunky illuminator I run on the top rail and I have more than enough room. I took all the rail panels off except for the bottom and run a light at 3 o clock position and pressure switch in between the 9 and 12 o clock. Feels right to me

I have a couple T1’s, a T2, and a couple TRS-25’s and they’re noticeably worse enough to me that I have considered dumping at least one of them for another used micro even tho it’s just on a 10/22. But if it works, it works.

I don’t like the 1-6 (or even worse the 1-8) strike eagles. They aren’t clear/true 1x enough to use as a red dot and the glass is iffy at 6X. The 8x is the same but worse with an even smaller eye box.

Another vote for an Aimpoint micro on a 1.93" mount. If you really want to save weight, the Scalarworks LEAP is very light but also not cheap. ADM and Geissele also make 1.93" micro mounts...probably others as well.

I've got Meprolight RDS Pro red dot and Vortex micro 3x magnifier. I had to order extra spacer and longer screws from Vortex to make magnifier and red dot align.
