For Manitoba hunters: Anyone know what's up with the no second deer tag in GHA 35?

Apparently I'm the only one who seems to see deer in 35? My trail cam and one of my co-workers' is definitely picking them up. And from all the talk in the towns the population isn't hurting.

I suppose since the area is so big I just get screwed in this regard. I can't really complain though. At least I won't have a problem securing my three deer.

QUOTE=Pharic.270;6100228]...But my bigger concern is this weather we are having. All back country travel is restricted, you can't even walk in. Bear starts Monday, and grouse starts on the 9th and we need some damn rain!!!![/QUOTE]

I agree, the back country closures are something to think about. We already had a big burn in Sandilands last year. Archery deer starts today or soon, I wonder how the license sales are going?

Saw a lot of movement happening just before the rain, boys. Still very few fawn tracks where I hunt in the SE of the province.

As for the backcountry travel restrictions, you can get permission. Talk to the COs. I doubt they'd let you drive in anywhere even on a quad, but I was allowed to walk in on crown land to take pictures this week.

Glad to hear that you were able to walk in. I was at Cabela's yesterday getting my bird licenses and spoke with one of the gun counter staff. He said archery deer hunters guys couldn't even walk in.

Yeah I also talked to the CO, and was told I was not allowed to walk in either. But no worries now, with the rain the past two days, they pulled the back road travel ban!!! Woo Hoo!!! Will be doing some grouse on Monday along with placing some cams.... Yee Haw!!!

actually the official word is that due to all of the moose closures , they are expecting a larger than average run on deer tags , and thus are taking corrective action to accomodate everyone, without hurting the deer populations. And this is what
I got straight from conservation !
