That I would never get to experience a North American hunt camp. Down where I live we stalk all year round and nowhere is more than a couple of hours drive from home so overnight stays are rare.
I realised last night whilst looking at my pics from our 4 man stalking trip to Glen Isla in the Angus hills last november probably is the closest.
4 stalkers, a lodge, seperate rooms and a bathroom with running water probably isnt even close but it was very welcome.
I spent the opening weekend of the Fallow buck season with a friend from my old Battalion. He brought a South African ex soldier friend who enjoyed himself.
We successfully stalked a Roebuck on the saturday evening and slept out waiting for dawn and the start of the Fallow Bucks. We did see some prickets but the real treat was fresh venison for breakfast cooked by the saffa lad.

Hide on weight for a Roe Buck is normally 40-45 pounds but that was a skinny one. We usually get about 20 pounds of meat from a Roe Buck, 30-45 from a Doe and anything up to 150 on a Fallow.
The larder weights in Scotland seemed to average around 90 kilos for Red Hinds on the last estate!
No bag limit, shoot all day for 2 days and then your oppos take over and do 2 days. 5 days away, total cost about £650 including fuel, food and accom.
