For Norinco NP28 1911 owners - Trigger replacement with a Caspian Trik Trigger

I thought I would post on my efforts to replace the trigger on my used NP28 Norinco 9 MM double stack style 1911.

I replaced most of the internals of this pistol with spares I had from other builds, and it is surprisingly a very reliable and accurate pistol, but I hate the trigger. It is so darn short and barely protrudes with no ability to adjust travel.

I could not find any information on a trigger that would even come close to fitting due to the width of the frame.

I toyed with the idea of trying to modify the factory trigger but as I could find no-one that sold spare factory ones I decided I better not.

I ended up purchasing a Caspian 1911 High Capacity Trik Trigger from Clarence at Bublbee Custom Machine in BC as I have two mags I suspect are Caspian mags that actually work in this pistol and therefore thought the trigger bow had to be the right width.

It is.

It took me two hours tonight to fit the trigger as the bow, while it is the correct width, was much too tall to fit into the trigger bow grooves inside the frame.

It required the normal fitting of the trigger shoe as well as they come oversized for custom fitting.

The slide is at the gunsmith getting a dovetail machined for a new front sight so I won't be able to test fire it for a while.

If any one wants to see some pictures let me know how to post them and I would be happy to do so.

Good to know. I've got 5-6K through mine and although I like the trigger. It's become clean and crisp over time, it's good to know that I have options going forward.

You said the mags you have, you suspect are Caspian as well? What makes you think this? I ask, simply because mags are so rare for this pistol, any potential source of mags that work in this platform must be looked at.

Thanks in advance.
