It appears despite the crazy laws, there is still a little common sense in there, and he can take care of the problem. BTW, no need to waste them, squirrels can be quite tasty.

The Benjamin Nitro Trail XP is the cat's PJ's! I just finished killing a squirrel quite dead with mine in .25 cal. I got mine from D&L Airguns in BC, and they are quite reasonable and very quiet and very, very potent! I have killed about 10 squirrels and 3 magpies with mine since I got it, and I wouldn't hesitate to use it on a gopher if I could get close enough. My longest shot was a squirrel at just over 30 yards, and I had to shoot through a spruce bough to get to it. Pellet went through both and exited, dead squirrel.
 
I suggest going to the $300. range and buying a Diana 34 in either .22 or .177. Either will do the job just fine. You will get German steel and quality and generally better accuracy for that small target. And for anyone who doubts the .177, I have pics.

I use them out of my Savage Rascal with a 16 inch barrel, and trust me their quiet!
Anything that look's like a firearm in a city is bad new's, that's why I live in Northern Ontario!
 
.177 pellets if fired from a powerful rifle will put them down on the spot. My Crosman Nitro Venom at 1000fps will do the trick on the little b^%^&rd that's got himself into my place if the trap won't work and I can find it outside. Very rural here but would rather use the air rifle.
 
My fathers place (orchard in Kelowna) was inundated with brown squirrels and too close to neighbours to use .22's.
Picked up a Stoeger X10 (1200fps) with scope and remedied the problem over 1 day.
We have yet to see any influx of new squirrels taking up residence in the immediate area of the house.
Fun stuff.
Left the bodies on the roof of a shed and noted they were gone the next morning.
Clearly an owl or hawk found it easier to feed the chicks with fast food ...
 
I alway's found that the harder hitting the pellet gun, the louder they are. Those 22's make less noise then the clap of a hand

^^^ I've resolved most of the squirrel problem around here with one of the CTC break action rifles easily.
 
predator poly-mags took my non pal cometa silver star from plinker to killer in a break of the barrel. well worth the money for hunting
 
My vote for less than 30 yards is the .25 crosman nitro piston. If you want to stretch it a bit, the .22 has a flatter trajectory and may be a bit better. The .25 is a hard hitting beast though... The NP XL 725 is a monster gun that is IMHO one of the best varmint killers out there.

The CCI quiets and cb's are super quiet and have more range because the bullets are better ballistically than pellets. The noise is still higher than my springers, but those rounds are really quiet.
 
took out 10 of those this summer with my slingshot and CCI quiets...i like the little red ones though, i leave them be and they never cause any problems.
