Not really milsurp, but close enough. My boy is an aforementioned Lego maniac, and as I've been researching my family's service history in the World Wars, he's shown an interest.
I stumbled on to the site Brickmania.
They do all kinds of accurate (lego accurate ) vehicles, figures and parts. I just ordered a 97 trench gun, SMLEs, Stens, Brens and Lewis guns and enough Brodie helmets and Canadian torso transfers to outfit a Canadian infantry unit.
Want me this MkV BAAAAD until I saw the price... Not just WWI and WWII but all kinds of eras. Not the cheapest stuff, but I appreciate what they're doing enough to support them.

Anyway, a good way to get the kids or grandkids interested...

A few years ago I had a coworker who was big into lego. I thought it was strange that someone of his age was "playing with lego", but we all have our hobbies and interests, so I didn't judge (too much). What I found most interesting, was that he was saving up for a sandcrawler lego kit. They cost a little more than that MKV above. My point is that it's not that bad of a price considering there are a lot of custom parts (i don't remember Enfields in my lego kits...), and this is a limited run. Lego got expensive!

I always like seeing WW1 stuff because I feel that it is turning into a forgotten war. Movies, book, etc, all seem to focus on the US's role in WWII. Canada played a big role in the First World War, and it pleases me to see something that will help tell the story to the next generation.
 
To be honest, I'm trying to talk myself out of the MkV kit. It's a limited run. My boy has been scouring the innernit for days learning everything he can about WWI tanks because he saw it. Thats pretty impressive for an 8 year old these days with all the nonsense out there. Stoopid expensive but if it's supporting a learning experience like this, I might.
 
wow. that's awesome!! my son saves up every dime he gets to buy more lego. I sometimes miss his needing my help. since now he can read and write etc, he rips open the box, cuts open the bags and build whatever it is pretty much solo. unless im interrupting by trying to help lol

So I bet I'll be the only guy in the history of CGN to be in the doghouse for a month not for buying a gun, but a Lego set....
I think this is a good "earn it " lesson for the boy. The Brens and Cdn infantry are coming next week. Then we'll look at it.

A buddy of mine got this kit and the A7V, I saw them first hand. Really neat kits. They are definitely catered to the AFOL (Adult fan of Lego) as the build is moderately complex.

You won't be disappointed :p

For the serious collector only. That said, they got some pretty sweet vehicles.

Aw, just tell her it's a bonding thing between you and the young'un. If she don't like it, send her to the doghouse!!!! ;) ;)
 
Also check out Brick Republic out of Quebec, super quick to ship. Happy to buy my kid lots of Lego guns, the tiny fully kitted out(dbal, Eotech, etc.) HK 416 with removable suppressor is fairly hilarious.
Edit: Sorry! Milsurp forum. Also hilarious are the Vickers, Lewis and Bren guns, a lot of the automatic firearms have removable magazines.
