for the m14... one cool piece of kit

Yeah if someone gets a group deal I'll go in for one, maybe two, I know some guys with m1's and m14s that would like one of these.

you need no special kits to take you bolt apart.....

you don't... but if you could simplify the issue with a simple tool that is meant for the job...... why the hell not. And this tool may make take down a little easier... but it's real benefit is getting the damn thing back together easier.
If you are proficient with the issue tool...... good on ya ;)

Nothing needed for dissasembly but a hammer and punch. An empty 30'06 case is all you need to assemble an M14 bolt......

thanx for the advice guys on the 308 case..... been there done that.
You guys may not have use for this tool...... but for those of us who want one...... and see the benefit...... 50.00 bucks is bugger all.
as they say "to each his own"

How does the sucker work? Does the pin pop right out of the bolt? How do you reassemble the bolt, from the bottom up?

It compresses the ejector plunger and holds the bolt in place while you press or tap the bottom button to push out the extractor from the bottom. The button on the bottom of the tool pushed against the extractor shaft as seen on the bottom of the bolt. You can then slowly release the pressure on the ejector plunger by backing off the thumbscrew on the back. Now you remove the bolt and the ejector plunger and spring are just hanging out, no pressure.

To reassemble, and I didn't have the benefit of instruction, so excuse me if there is a better way, you reinsert the ejector spring and plunger and centre them on the allen head screw, you can then push them part way in and seat the bolt back into the jig. Now you can turn the thumbscrew and watch down the extractor shaft hole as the opening lines up. Drop in the extractor, position the extractor spring and its plunger, and give it a tap down. Click, its in place. Now release the assembled bolt from the jig.

It was worth disassembling. There was brass on the shaft of the firing pin that couldn't be removed by shooting aerosol brake cleaner through the firing pin bore.

M14 bolt tool

Look up the ebay seller blackh2, I got mine from him, he sells lots of tools for the M14 and Garand, and usually has one of the bolt tools for sale at least once a week
