To me, the 15 with cabelas exclusive comp barrel is the better choice, but I have to ask what that means in a 22lr. How heavy does it need to be? Or is it more about the accuracy and trigger on the 15? I like the look of both but am torn and dont quite get the hype of the 16.

My buddy has a 15, I just got my 16. This weekend we will shoot the #### out of both and I’ll let you know. I put 9 magazines through my 16 last night. Had a fail to feed on mag one with one or two left in the mag. That’s it. 200 rounds through the gun and it works great. I’ll put a scope on it one of these days and see what ammo it prefers accuracy wise, but functionally wise, it’s great.

Awesome, cant wait for the update!

The 110rd mags for the 16 are a nice option. I just bought a 16, but don’t have the drum mag yet. 200rds of mini mags and zero issues. Plus, I love the slap when loading the first round.

Ok... so no actual accuracy testing but I put a couple bricks through it last weekend with a bushnell trs25 red dot. Had some fail to extract/feed issues with the spec ops 40gr lead round nose from canadaammo, but it worked just about all of the time, just burning though old .22 ammo trying to smooth out and break in the gun, It's real dirty now. High velocity stuff worked pretty guaranteed. I have ... a number of .22's and this one is pretty bloody fun. Just need some drums.

For the record, I tried to put a scope on it, but the rings that were on the scope were slightly too low for a long rail mount. I have a few other sets of rings in different heights, but I also have a full time job, a toddler, everything else. I'll try one day.

I have both have shot both, the GSG15 comes off as the better quality firearm.. the GSG was used a bunch including a day with scout's that put nearly 1000rds thru it with no failures. The GSG16 is decent however thr stock is made of flimsy plastic and its hard to get a good cheek weld up to the peep iron sights. I just got the Gsg16 because of the drum mags.

For the record this was the gsg-16?

That was my initial thought. I have been looking for some sort of fun semi 22lr and after the preorder shenanigans with the 16 I stumbled across the 15 at cabelas with the match barrel and think that will be my plinker.

If my main use is a .22 then I would take the gsg 15. More solid rifle overall but a bit heavier. The gsg 16 I strap to my pack when hunting deer with a larger rifle or crossbow. Just in case I see some hare or grouse.
