What is the largest caliber you have shot at small game (gophers, varmints, etc.)

My brother took out a gopher with a slug from his 12 gauge once.

What have you guys used?

I got a grouse with a 7mm Rem mag, took the head off

and shot a squirrel with a 30/30. Stupid thing was hiding behind a 4" tree couldnt get a shot with the .22 so took out the 30/30 and shot right thru the tree to kill the little bugger

I have taken ground squirels with .416 Rem Mag-400 hornady at 2450 fps and .458 Win Mag.-510 gr soft point at 2040 fps. Both rounds performed well, both animals went right down, up, sideways whatever. Niether required a second hit.

A slate junko at 100 yards with a 30-06 and 180 gr Federal Premiums. Fine black dust/feathers was all I got to see. I was just trying to get rid of those inaccurate factory loads to load up some real tack-driving home grown stuff. :) I've shot scores of grouse with either a 303 Brit or a 30-06. All head shots of course, except one. All I found was one leg and the head. OOOPS!

Sucker fish with a 12ga poking out of its mouth, pinged the primer with the Cooey 22, interesting smell of fish and powder in the air.

Grouse with a 300 mag, took the head right of, squirrels with 3006, but the most spectacular was a chickadee at 6 feet with 1 1/8 oz of #6 at abotu 4 feet. Just pin feathers floating down.

Gophers with 375H&H and 300gr round noses are very effective.
So are 30-06's with basically any load you have on squirrels.
Both barrels in unison on a sterlingworth fox with 00 Buckshot is very good for spraying a porcupine out of a tree and into the next county if you have a steady breeze. Man that left a mark on this kid when he was 13 and 90lbs!
Do you wonder why I tend to flinch when I shoot now?

gopher at 187 yards with a 200gr 300weatherby found chuncks over 25 yards away
best acrabatics i saw was a 25 06 with 75 gr vmax @3650 ft/sec
way cooler than the 10 22

Wow, deja-vu. Haven't we done this one already?

I've got nothing impressive to report. Gopher with a 22-250, I suppose
