For those who used Henry's Warranty service

Afternoon all. For those of you who have used Henry's Warranty service, where did you get the service done?

The reason I ask is that the Henry Big Boy in 44 mag that I recently purchased off the EE has an issue that I think warrants warranty service. The previous owner said he put a box of 44 special down the pipe.

I brought my new to me Henry to the range today with a box of factory 240 gr rounds and some home rolled rounds for load development. After loading up the magazine tube with 10 factory rounds, I put them down range with no issues. When I went to reload, I noticed that the brass plunger was difficult to turn and even more difficult to remove. That is when I noticed that the magazine tube had moved forward about 7/16 of an inch. The roll pin that holds the magazine tube in place was still there and you can see the half moon shape in the magazine tube that the roll pin slides in to prevent the magazine tube from moving. Obviously it's not doing it's job.

I have read on here as well as other places of the great warranty service offered by Henry and unfortunetly for me, I have to use it.



 
Mixed reviews on this forum about Gretch. Every time I've been in to his store, the owner's attitude has been hit and miss. That is just my experience. I wish I could tell you that there is another alternative but I really do know of another, other than sending it to the US.

There are a few gunsmiths around so I don't know how and why Gretch seem to have gotten most of the warranty work? He is not even a site sponsor and I don't think he really cares IMO.

Read all the reviews here as well as other sites on the net. Not a warm fuzzy felt. An initial email to John Gretch was pleasant. After that, not so much. I'm gonna try and get an update Friday and I'll go from there. Already contacted Henry regarding who does warranty in Canada. Might have to give an update to Henry if no satisfaction on Friday.
