Since I had my NULA model 20 built around 2012, I've spoken with Mel at length over the phone on more than a few occasions.
He's real character and I have no doubt in my mind that he would do his utmost to help a Forbes owner get up and running again if there was a serious issue.
Unfortunately, Mel isn't getting any younger and will not be in shop forever. I am unaware if there will be someone to carry on the business and provide the same level of customer service and old world craftsmanship.
The good news is the Forbes rifle has a fantastic pedigree and is a proven, durable action. I've been pretty hard on my NULA and did manage to break off the bolt handle from the bolt when I took a fall on when sidehilling on a scree slope. Remington uses the same soldered on bolt handle and it is a weakness in my experience, I would be quite curious to know from you Forbes owners if your bolt is one piece machined instead of the two-piece soldered/brazed assembly like mine?
