My new revolver, a Forehand & Wadsworth copy of a "Webley British Bulldog". In 44cal Bulldog. Is there an exact way to date these beasties? What brass could I use in it? I have been thinking 44 Special or 44 Mag brass may fit. They must have had bigger pockets in the old days, this would make quite a bulge in your pocket so to speak. Antique revolvers are great!

Nice find! Thanks for posting the photos. If the 44 S&W brass is too long, maybe the 44 Russian brass might work.

There are some who try to cultivate a large bulge in their pocket :>) :>) The name Forehand and Wadsworth was used between 1872 and 1890 when it changed to Forehand Arms. You need to mike the chamber to chose the shell. Mine works out right for a shortened .303 british shell with the base reduced slightly. Should be fun to shoot. Probably easiest to use with a roundball and black powder.

Good buy I tried but it had sold already now I know who got it . is it as good as it looks?

44 Russian usaly work in these.
brass cut down 44 mag cases should work great!
.429 soft lead bullets but slug the bore to be sure.
looks like new!
there very popular and are going up in value all the time,
thats one of the best ones ive seen!

Ive had a few F&W guns there very well made and all pre 1898!
