DCRA rules as per 5.05 8.6 states: The use of forend pistol grip is allowed, however it cannot be used for direct support to the the ground. Would'nt want anyone to have problems at the National level. Nuff said.

So can you have a fore grip in contact with the ground if the contact is broken with a hand? (ie. Hold the grip half way up the hand with the lower portion of the hand in contact with the ground) or place the fore grip on the palm or craddled between the forefinger and thumb?

As noted, a foregrip cannot make direct contact with the ground.
Longshot - have you ever seen anyone using a foregrip at NSCC?

Only on issued C7A2s and not to any advantage.

There is a certain Sultanate that runs AUGs with custom length mags so they can get three points (mag, pistol grip, fore grip) of contact with the ground while firing.

No ive never seen anyone gain advantage anywhere with a foregrip other than Bisley like Gl said. They purposely suddenly produced 20 rd mags after shooting almost the whole competition with 30s.
The Kiwis and Auzzies weren't happy because they know that 20 rd mags are only sold aftermarket and that they were purposefully using unissued kit to gain advantage(cheat).

Question did come up during the shoot. Answered incorrectly it would appear. Advantage is unknown.

When you get older service rifle is like ###, you only get one good shoot per year. Unknown quote. ;)
