Hi I bought pistol grip forend for my grizzly and cannot figure out how to remove the nut anyone ran into the issue before. I know theres a wrench for it but its about 30 bucks us, anyone have a easy fix to this issue.

thanks in advance

I had the same problem with an 870 Express recently. I tried everything I could to remove it and ended up having to borrow a fore end wrench. There simply wasn't another way to get the nut off.

I was able to remove the nut on my HP9 with the claw end on a hammer.

I did the following: take roughly 1 foot of pipe in the appropriate diameter and grind/cut/etc. one end so that you are left with 2 little square tabs about 1/8" on opposite sides... no special machining required, I just eyeballed with an angle grinder. If you cut wrong just hack off the damage with a square cut and start over. The hardest part is finding a pipe of the right diameter. Using the pipe may scuff the finish a bit so I filed off the rough edges. Best of luck!

I made one from a piece of dowel(handle) and some 2" wide steel cut to fit into the nut
Here's a pic of my homemade tool, simple but did the job. I like the idea of grinding down the end of a pipe as mentioned above. Seems like it might help to prevent any skipping of the tool while turning.

if you buy a speedfeed stock it comes with the wrench. You can also try 90 degree bentnose pliers as well.
