So I finally took my old .22s out of the gun safe and brought them to the range yesterday. It shames me to say it, but I hadn't shot them in over 10 years! I inherited them from my father and they were never registered, so I played it safe and kept them at home during the decade of darkness. Don't know why I didn't get them out to shoot sooner... I forgot how damn accurate they were too. The three rimfires in question are a scoped Winchester 69A, a Charter Arms AR-7, and a Long Branch No.7 RCMP trainer. The No.7 has amazing target sights and is an absolute tack driver, my favorite by far. Even the AR-7 had decent accuracy even though the group wasn't tight. My dad taught me to shoot on the 69A when I was 12, just before I joined the Army Cadets and moved on to the FN C1A1 lol, quite the jump in firepower!

Anyways, just wanted to share. I may have to pick up one of those modern .22s for some rapid fire fun. An Anschutz MSR or ISSC Mk22 maybe :D

The rim fires r just a blast to shoot and doesn't really destroy your pocket book either. Welcome back to the rimfires fold. I have an issc mk 22 I love it does tend to really chew through ammo though lol.

I could up yer trader rating a notch if'n you have a hanker'n to sell the 69A..........
I was up at a range the other day and took five shooters with me.
Three were of the sort you mention.
T-bolt, CZ Scout and my customed chopped up 69A.
The T-bolt outshined them all.
Couldn't be perhaps the Leupold 3-9x40 I just purchased from a fellow CGN........thanks Mr. D.....

Last weekend we took a group of new shooters to our club. They got to try .22 rifles , 9mm pistols,
.22 pistols & .38 revolvers. The most fun that they had were with the .22 rifles.
I had not shot one for years ( been shooting handguns ) but now I am looking to buy one.
Fun to shoot, inexpensive to own , relatively cheap ammo & no reloading.
What's not to like.

ahh I don't think I could ever bring myself to part with it, too many memories at the cottage growing up! It's a handy little rifle that's for sure, someday I'm going to re-blue and refinish the stock. What did you do to customize your 69A?

Funny how everything seems to always come full-circle. I also recently re-discovered the joys of plinking with .22lr (both rifles & HG's)....

I've always wanted one of those trainers. Message me if you decide to sell or preferably...in the mood for a trade. :)

I just got back home after taking a trip to Cabelas in Barrie.
A Marlin 795 followed me home. I guess I have to look after it now.
How nice to simply pick out a rifle, show my PAL, pay & leave. Great service from Cabelas also.

…... Cheap, quiet, recoil-free fun.

I can relate! After banging out a few rounds of 7.62x51 & 7.62x54R thru two steel butt-plate rifles (m305 & Mosin Nagant) it was a relief switching to my .22lr bolt.
Funny how my son had no problem with the "big sticks"….sucks getting old.
