Form 6 NIA and LGR

Garand, Ditto with me - The registration forms are proof you owned them before you crossed the border. Won't see you Wyoming this years but I'm going to East Grand Forks.

I have never had an isue entering the U.S. or returning to Canada. I have never even had an officer on either side even check the guns. The only thing the U.S. cares about is 1) are they crime or stolen guns. 2) Are the Chinese 3) are they NFA or class 3. other than that they get rubber stamped.

'Had one buddy'd AR come up as "stolen" when the US BPO ran it through their computer...

"Meehhh... That can't be it. Must be an error in the data base... 'Have a nice day guys"

Is there like a dollar threshold or something for items that you would want to get one for?

It's the same form you should fill out if you take an expensive camera, watch or jewelry abroad, it's a one time deal, no charge It simply lets customs know that it's yours and you took it out of the country. .

No, you may have certain items that you take on different trips, so you can have a Y38 for those items, instead of having one with everything on it. It doesn't cost anything to get.
You simply fill out the item description,and serial # if the items have one
Sometimes it's easier to have a Y38 for your IPSC gear and your hunting gear, that's just an example.

My first trip to the US for 2012 for some shootin' is in a couple of weeks...

So "just in case" and to avoid waiting in line at the border... I decided to get me one of them thar Y38's for my now paperless non restricted shotgun and a rifle I may have occaision to take outta the country.

I went to the CBSA office at the Hamilton airport.
Drive right up to the door, park and walk in... I left the guns in the truck.
Receptionist asks if she can help...
"I have two firearms I'd like to get a Y38 for,,"
"Okay just a minute"

Few seconds laster a couple of (hawt) BSO's emerge from the back office and we go outside... I little jokin' around on their part.
"They're not loaded are they..?"

Open the cases on the tail gate... She writes down the make model and ser. No's.... I sign the same little green card and there... Done.

Took all of 4 minutes...

On a side note... Did I mention they BSO's were hawt..?
Yeah.. well turns out while I was standing there talking to 'em tryin' to be all suave... My fly was down. :redface:
