Thank you for your time and answers, one last thing I'm new to idpa and ipsc when there are matches in usa does the clubs post invitations? How do I get those so I don't have hassles at the border? I know for matches here in Ontario once registered on practiscore it shows complete once approved.

For matches in Ontario you don't need an invite to attend.

For matches in the US contact the MD and ask for an invite.
Most MDs will send you an invite for all their matches for the year.

I bird hunt a few times a year with my BIL in western NY. I apply for a F6NIA every year and a NY state hunting license. US Customs check NY license,Ontario license and F6NIA on the way down and CBSA checks my PAL when coming back into Canada. I've only been sent to "secondary" a couple of times since 9/11.

Firearm list is similar... Just the name of manufacturer and country...

If there is a website for the match, I print that. If there is a list of squads (i.e.: with my name on it), I print that. If it is a small match with no website and no pre-registration, but I have an email from a club/match official confirming that and welcoming me to the match, I print that.

In my experience, most CBP agents are very professional. If you are able to answer their questions to their satisfaction, and all of your paperwork is in order, you'll have no problem.
