Format Change Due To Covid For Canadian Trapshooting Championships June 25-27/2021

50% of albertans have their first shot according to the government.
Why can't we have the same shoots we had this time last year when no one had a shot?
No one got the plauge from our June shoot last year.
We haven't canceled for this year yet.
Here's hoping.

Because it is no longer about our health. Our skeet field is closed, but 15 people can still attend a religious service, and 5 can socialize, but 5 people aren't allowed to shoot skeet or trap together.

Yes, that is why they are meeting to discuss changing the date. Chances of things opening up enough for a trap shoot in late June are slim to none. I can’t imagine the other provinces are much better off.

SK is allowing gatherings including sporting events, competitions etc with up to 150 people starting May 31/21. As it stands SATA is reinstating registered shoots beginning in June. We received word last week and an updated program of registered shoot dates for 2021 today.

We had a few sask shooters at our tournament last june, maybe i'll have to return the favour this year.

Maybe SK should host the Western Nationals.

In a talk today with one of the CTA directors there is no change in plans to date for the Canadians. They are still scheduled as a satellite style shoot hosted by several clubs across Canada on the original dates as planned and with the modified 700 target program over a three day period. If the shoot cannot proceed they will come up with a contingency plan at that time and post the new plan.

“At that time” ? What time is that ? My source says June 6 as I posted.

Western Nationals? Is that sporting clays or are you referring to the ATA Western Zone shoot? Edmonton is the host club for the Western Zone shoot. The CTA had a meeting last night. The Canadian Championships have been put over to Aug 6-8. At that time it has been decided that regardless of the outcome of the Covid situation the shoot will go ahead on those dates. Any shooters unable to attend at a host club in their respective province will have to accept that shooters in other provinces that can shoot will go ahead and do so.

Just heard the Canadian Nationals Satellite shoot postponed until August 6,7 and 8th.

What is the nationals you keep referring to for the different shoots? None of the trap shoots are called the nationals so are you referring to or confusing the trapshoots with sporting clays? I know they refer to those shoots as the nationals. The Western Zone trapshoot is an international shoot as it's held in both Canada and the US as a satellite shoot by a few host clubs. The Canadian Trapshooting Championships are the same format across Canada this year and are open each year to anyone from any country wishing to attend. They have never been called The Canadian Nationals.

This weekend Aug 6-8/21 is the weekend! Who is going and where do you plan to attend it? Though the 5 of us going from the Lloydminster Club are all AB residents we are attending it in Swift Current, SK. We are meeting up with a group of friends there, squadding together and decided to put on a pot luck get together the evening of the 200 singles championship, saturday. Can't wait to get there and shoot and socialize with friends for this historic event. The satellite format should be very interesting with the time zone differences from coast to coast as scores are tabulated and called in and shoot-offs or carry overs take place.

Best of luck, hope you do well! Will you be attending the Burt Brumwell Memorial shoot in Wainwright the last weekend of August? That will be mine and my wifes final shoot of the summer.
Thanks, and good luck to you guys too.

Are you coming back to castor for the National trap day shoot Saturday sept.18?
You could do castor Saturday, and calgary Sunday....

I went to wainwright last year, and I'm hoping to go again this year.
My wife may veto that, though.
It's the weekend before school starts, and last year I said "Don't worry, we'll be home plenty early Sunday. I'll get on an early squad."
Guess who was in a shootoff...
:)

Wainwright is our final shoot of the year. Waterfowl opens Sept 2....we don't shoot trap once that opens. We bust feathers. Lol

Day 1 results from Events 1-3 are live now on the CTA website. The phonetic satellite format went very smooth on day 1 and there was even a couple shoot-offs between shooters in a few different provinces and that went off without a hitch as scores got called in and winners determined. There was close to 300 entries in all three events and the CTA delegates were extremely pleased with the turnout. There is already rumors that if numbers like this are to continue that possibly this format might be used again as the participation level almost doubled over past years. Today starts day 2, event 4 which is the 200 singles championship day. Can't wait to burn more powder and see the scores coming in. This is pretty exciting stuff imo and for those of us taking part at the Swift Current Trap Club it's a heck of a great time. It feels like a big extended family get together where the family actually gets along! Lol At the completion of todays event we are having a pot luck gathering. I'm sure there will be lots of bs flowing along with a few beer of stories reliving the first two days events...

Singles champion was a lone 200 straight shot by an Ontario shooter Christos Tsementzis, runner up was Saskatchewan shooter Kahl Boll after a three way 199 score shoot off that went 4 rounds with Kahl shooting 25-25-25-24 to take the runner up championship title. AA class went to Patrick Lamont with a score of 199 and another SK shooter Logan King captured Jr Gold with his 199 at the completion of the shoot-off. Results for all shooters are posted in the link below...
