Thinking there are probably a few good guys who lost everything in the fire, who would still want to put some good food on the table for their families this Fall. If any of you know someone who genuinely needs help, and has a valid PAL, please let me know. There is a nice 30-06 Husqvarna here that can be sent their way in plenty of time for hunting season.

Ted

I know of a couple of guys, one is going to stay at my place if it survives, as I am out of country for a few more weeks, think he saved a couple rifles, but lost sum fine shotguns,
Alberta outdoors has a thread running, and when everything settles back down, is going to do a gather up for those, who have lost there homes,

Thanks Ted,

I have several friends that hunt and fish that still don't know if their homes are still standing. Once everyone gets back to their homes, I will find out who lost what.

Good on ya Ted! Classy gesture for sure. I have donated some cash to the Canadian Red Cross already, but could definitely find a shooter to loan out for this fall if need be. Thanks for starting this.

Back to the initial intent and focus of this thread, including the stated guidelines, X2 on Teds offer, but with a Husqvarna 270 Win. While I'm adverse to the 'concept' of downsizing, this is one good method and 'reason' to do so. I'm in!!

Folks.... This thread was started as a generous offer by great CGN'r..... Let's try to save the high river stuff for one of the many other threads on the topic in genral, OT or news.....

Ted, I downsized to essentials, so no rifle to offer...... But I can toss in a nice leather sling and 3 boxes of 180 gr corelokts that are surplus to my needs..... Keep me in the loop....

there is always some idiots, when people are trying to do something nice, to kill a thread ....

and i add another scope to John 270....

Phil

Ok...... Awesome Phil...... I have another sling I can add...... And two sets of rings....... If the rifles have bases, I will throw these in as well..... I will even break character and buy a box of .270 to throw in..... So we have two complete shooters with optics and anmo ready to go.....

Either way, getting some shooters in the hands of hunters is a great idea..... Most of us have donated one way or the other...... But this is unique and cool and totally CGN........

I know that, if I was in that situation, a base shooter would save my hunting season when my funds would likely be promised elsewhere.......

Whoever starts the 'list' of donors, put me down for one good centre fire rifle donation to a needy Ft. Mac hunter who has lost all their rifles. If someone takes on this task, and provides the names of donors to needy persons from Ft. Mac, I will gladly send one their way when the dust settles and someone reaches out to me.

I have a fresh .243 Vanguard that shoots beauty with Federal ammo to add to the goody pot.
With a positive need, I will send.

Realizing that there are plenty of scammers out there hoping for free goods, I would urge proper caution before folks start sending out donations.

A proper list, along with member communication will help a bunch.:)

Just when CGN starts to seem repetitive, and drags you down. Along comes a thread like this to totally energize faith in humanity, kindness to strangers, and proof that the most screened and vetted group in Canada is.....the real Canada.

I am knee deep in moving(literally), would not have a rifle as i have moved out a lot this year, but will try to find a scope or something.

I have the advantage of having lived in Fort McMurray for 35 years, retiring less than a year ago, and anything I give will go to someone that I know personally, or that one of my good friends still living in the city can vouch for. That is why I am waiting until everyone is let back into the city, and people find out if they have a home or property remaining.

I'm relocating to Victoria BC this summer for a couple of years, and will be leaving a few firearms behind in a friends gun safe for safe keeping. I'm in to lend a new Winchester sxp 3.5' waterfowl if needed.
