So here in Fort St John we will be starting a Local International Defense Pistol Night. We are becoming an affiliate club with IDPA ( www.idpa.com ) and should have that done within a week.

So we will be shooting weekly, every tuesday night at 6:30pm arrive and we should be shooting by 7pm , just a quick safety briefing and off to the races we go.

Equipment needed is very limited, a good belt, Holster and a double mag pouch is all you need besides a pistol or revolver and a total of 3 magazines minimum. Bring at least 50-100 rounds of ammunition and if you want to shoot more then bring more :) (Concealment Garment is Optional for Now)

I suggest you goto idpa.com and download and read the Rule book, but if you don;t want to I will have printed copies at every weekly club practice. You do NOT need to be a member of IDPA to come shoot but it is encouraged for you to secure membership if you plan on Shooting the sport for any amount of time, Want to be classified and/or wish to travel to the little "circut" we have developing here (Peace River, Dawson Creek and FSJ)

Location will be North Peace Rod and Gun Club (www.nprg.ca ) and if you are not a member you will need to buy a day pass which is $15 (Membership is only $75'ish).

I will be bringing a spare glock and a spare holster/Mag Pouch, so if you do not feel your gear is up to snuff come anyway, actually even if you just have a gun and no holster, come on out and have some fun, you can start with gun in hand and shoot for fun..... plus we can talk about what you need to get if you want to continue with the sport,one of the most popular is the blade-tech combo pack which has everything you need.

I urge everyone who is local and owns a handgun to come on out, and for sure join IDPA, some of the benfits of IDPA besides the fun is the Provincial CFO of alberta and BC recognize it as a way to get interprovincial ATT's, also when classified it counts as proof of holster use for your bear protection application or ATC.

come one come all, bring your soda pops and just come to watch if you want, the course of fire is going to be really basic the first night till I get some more target stands built and order some more targets but it will be fun :)

I honestly do not expect a big turn out for the first couple of weeks but as word gets out hopefully it picks up ;)

it is going to be a hoot..... :)
 
well it thundered and it lightning'ed and it rained once or twice but 10 hardy souls made the journey to begin to become IDPA shooters :)

we all had fun but I think I talked to much :(

more shooting next time :) :)

well another tuesday is rolling around, 6:30 guys, see you there :D

going to be building target stands today, probably 8 more so we can have different scenarios.... and going to see if I can get some plastic barrels lined up :D
 
well 15 guys showed up tonight.... we shot one stage "wolves attack"... same as what greg shot in vega I think.

5 targets from 5 yds to 25 yds, shooters starts kneeling with a barrel on its side in front of him simulating a "moose".....both hands on the barrel, buzzer goes and then shoot each target 2x in the body, then after they are shot you make sure with 1 shot each in the head. (forces reload)

Times ranged from a low of 32 seconds total to over 56 seconds... the 25yd was giving some guys grief plus the fact that th #4 target had the head facing the other way so it got shot in the ass alot ;)

then we shoot the moving stages of the classifier,
Start at 10 yds, walk towards target 2 shoots eeach COM, then scored, then 2 shots each COM walking backwards. times averaged around 20 seconds total (give or take)

we got some great shooters here, I cannot wait till we get everybody hooked up and legal with all the equipment they need.

It is EVERY tuesday... till september, next tuesday will probably be small attendance though as the major shutdown of the taylor gas plant starts friday so everyone will be working.

so every tuesday, 6:30 :D
 
just so you guys know I am going to try to post the next weeks first stage on www.idpacanada.com in the forums in the COF area..... file name will indicate date being shot. (they are in a .doc file extension, word 97 or better to open) Stage for June 17th is allready posted.

we only have time to shoot 2 stages, so the second stage will be two strings of fire poached off of the classifier.... so 2 strings of fire from either stage 1,2 or 3.

PM me feedback on what you guys want to shoot week to week so I can plan... remember that all COF's must be in the spirit of idpa :D
 
Just an update guys,
June 24th shoot will be a classifier Night.... some guys have to get classified for the postal match and the upcoming BC provincials.

classification takes about 20-30 minutes per shooter if everyone helps.
