Why not?

Okay, you shotgun gurus, just got a call from an acquaintance of mine who wants to know if it is safe to shoot slugs out of his Swede SXS 12 GA?

I have no idea, but told him I would try to find out the real answer, not the common (mis)conceptions. :D

If it is safe, how would accuracy be?

Ted

Foster slugs should be safe in any full-choked gun that is safe to fire with modern ammunition. I wouldn't be surprised if the points of impact for the two barrels were considerably different, though.

The slugs are safe as long as the gun has 2 3/4" chambers and is shooting the same length ammo. The accuracy will probably be minute of barn as most doubles are regulated to shoot shot and the slug need a different regulation. He will probably find the shots will cross each other by about 30yards and then continue to get worse as the distance increases. The barrels will likely shoot some where other than the aiming point.
