I went to the Woodstock gun show just for a look when i saw a grimey
Remington 572 fieldmaster with a 3/4" 70's bushnell 2-7 scope too.
I got it home and completly dissasembled it for some much needed
steel wool, SP3 lube, and some polishing of the internals. I also use a bit of moly paste and lube on the action bar and a light coating on the bolt/ pin assembly..I do the same thing with my Wingmaster to make it buttery smooth.
Overall now its in 90 percent finnish condition with a few scratches and dings here and there but pretty good for its age, Remingtonsociety says its a 1972.
Ive only shot it with the iron sights so far at 25 yrds but slapped a Bushnell 4-12 A/O banner on it tonight. I used to own a 552 speed master and a targetmaster so im expecitng good things. Anyone who has shot a remington knows these things are freaky accurate so i am expecting .250 at 50 yrds even with all the wood and tube mag contacting the barrel....lol
Ive been patiently looking for one of these since i sold my 552. It is a very reliable accurate plinker and very capable hunting rifle. Holds 15 LR or 25 shorts. Also one of the things i really like is how easy it is to pop one in the breech and go. Just like the 870.
I know some think they are just fugly but to me its my Ulitmate!
By the way it cost me $200 at the show
