Found a hunting stand on my property

He then asks me if I would be interested in buying the 80 acres he owns to the south of me.Well it looks like I am off to the bank to re-mortgage the house since I just bought a quad on friday.

Great solution. Do you mind me asking what property is going for in your area?

Good on you for doing what you did. Many of our members (by thier posts) would have screwed themselves by acting like angry children. Hats off to you. Good luck with your new land and friend.

I'm really disappointed reading some of the replies here. What the hell has happened to kids in canada that "talk to the neighbor' wasn't EVERYONE'S first response?

I think some of you guys must have been bullied as kids or something :) For heaven's sake folks - a little courtesy given tends 9.9 out of 10 times to get you courtesy returned. As we can clearly see from what happened.

I guess some of us have had repeated tresspass problems and are at the end of our ropes.
Or at least thats my excuse for being a crusty old curmudgeon.:D

I'm glad this all worked out in a positive light. I had the same experience last year with a stand that was put up on my Uncle's property, that he didn't know about. I left a note asking the stand owner to contact me regarding the placement of his stand, stating that the landowner didn't know about it and that he has requested me (a family member) to look into it. It turns out that it was put up by the son of one of the other landowners in the area, who had permission to hunt on the property years ago, but gave up hunting due to an injury.

After sorting out whether he could hunt there or not (and getting a little lesson on assuming that he had permission just because a family member did years ago) he invited me to come over to his Dad's property, where he gave me permission to hunt there and where I met two of the other landowners in the area who also gave me permission.

The fact is, they appreciated the fact that someone was keeping an eye on the property they hunted on and took diplomatic measures when it came to dealing with possible trespassers. If I had just gone and removed the stand, or damaged it, or done something else extreme...I'd be out many many many acres of property.

I have 640 acres of crop land bordering a game preserve and 960 acres of bush /grass land . prime waterfowl /deer habitat. All of it is posted no treaspassing . with a phone # to call to get permision . In the past i had problems with "pits"left open in feilds ,cut wires on fences ,gates left open ,shot livestock, vandelism, ect.
I found by giving permission to hunt i had a small army of eyes reporting to me .I get names and plate # then i give a list to all the ones with permission . talk about a police force!!! I have only had one problem since .
I have gotten permission for 1000's of acres to hunt on in return .
