I was a little disappointed the first day out shooting, then second day after retourqing everything , cleaning, and trying 4 new types of ammo, I found one that worked.... 168 grain hornady amax superformance.

I pulled 4 and was mad it myself.... Lost focus.

Amax were Tight on lands.... It felt good.

I'll get it closer as I get more time with it, but I'm happier now than the first day out. I can see that I'm going to have to reload soon too.... Burning through ammo like crazy.
 
I think more tuning is required - if I'm reading that program correctly none of the groups posted is MOA ( assuming you are shooting from 100 ) with the tightest measuring 1.192".

I would change out that whippy Hogue stock as soon as possible.

It looks like the best group is 1.167" outside to outside. Subtract .308 equals .859".

Regardless, I agree with what you suggest.

Yes, you are correct. Shooting in the .8's is better but let's see if he can get down to sub 3/4 min which is doable with a factory pipe. B+C or HSP stock ( take off is OK ) properly bedded and some 168g SMK's over 43.5 Varget with Lapua Brass and FGMM primers and I am betting we see a group in the .7's or maybe even in the .6's :)
 
Doesn't the app deduct the bullet's diameter for the calculation? I could be wrong.

My AAC SD was similar but those missed shots could have been as a result of that Hogue stock. I bedded my Hogue stock (before upgrading to a B&C) and made sure the barrel was floated so that you'd need considerable effort for it to make contact with the stock. Torqued the receiver screws to 35"lbs and my handloads tightened up considerably.

Agree. Hopefully the OP recieves your suggestions for what they are meant to be; helpful advice.
Others have been a little sensitive in this respect ;)

The app is the target tab of ballistic ae. I think is subtracts for the calculation. The green lines are through the centre so it must.

New stock already ordered from mystic. Arch angel full bed block promag 700...

looks encouraging.. hope you had fun shooting them.

Factory ammo is what it is.

The more you shoot the better you will get and you will eventually be able to out shoot the ammo and your rifles capabilities. Then you can decide what equipment, ammo (reloading) you want to upgrade or improve to get to the next level.

So I finally got out to try the rifle out in the new arch angel stock and my muzzle brake installed. After re zeroing I tried two new loads that looked very promising too.... Note, this was not on a lead sled or stand, this was on the bipod that is on the arch angel stock. And a rear bag. The part I found encouraging was there is next to no vertical dispersion now that the rem 700 is in this stock and using a muzzle brake. Only left to right movement which is probably just me pulling the shots. Take a look.

First two are hornady 155 amax and third one is hornady 150 sst
