I have a once fired 40SW piece of brass that has buldge ridges running the better part of the casting. Is there some handgun out there that has a scooped out ridges in the chamber???

I guess the term should use is "fluted chamber".

Hmmm, I did a look on Google, and my guess is that it came from an HK MP5. I got this brass in a full ammo can that was said to be range brass.... Must have been some cops doing some practice, somewhere...

Cheers all.

Son of a gun - I didn't know that. Any reason why??

Same reason HK uses it. A little gas blows back and reduces friction of extraction.

The SVI fluting is nowhere near as deep as the HK fluting. But if you can clearly see the SVI fluting embossed on the case, it mean you are at MAX+ pressure....

I fired some 40 S&W 200gr loaded to IPSC Major using CLAYS (note, this is NOT a load/powder for the beginner, but the peak pressure was somewhat mitigated because it was loaded long, 1.2" or so, which is too long for a Glock mag)

It left uncomfortably deep impressions in the cases.... :runaway:

Anyone have pics of anything related to this topic?
