Found Decapitated Turkey & Partridge Today

I think owls do that as well. I know growing up we had some ducks taken from our ponds by owls...and they did this. They would come back the next night and eat the rest...
 
Funny you should say that. James found a decapitated rabbit on the trail leading to his school the other day. He told me its body was ok, but the head was gone.

I don't know of an animal that just takes the head.

Of course, the two legged animals of the world might be responsible. Met a few over the years.
 
I'm with Snowshoe on this. When we had free range hens we would lose one or two in the daytime .The culprit was an owl(Great horned),he just swooped down -PUFF! and there was a headless bird! Wife wouldn't let me shoot it -owls don't taste too good! JITC

I think that you have a very sensible wife, you're a lucky man. (psssstt...'tis illegal to shoot owls don't you know)
 
Fisher's are the largest and fastest of the bunch fully capable of taking a turkey. They are very efficient killers.

A cat? No way. These birds are way to large for a house cat.
A dog? Neither. Too big and clumsy for catching a bird.
 
shooting animals

I grew up on a chicken farm , you would be suprised at the things you can shoot to protect your chickens , I used to sit up all nite waiting for my chance to shoot skunks coyotes wolves martins badgers , as long as you were defending your stock you were fine.
 
Its actually a new disease found in birds. You've heard of west nile virus in crows and jays?

Well, this serious disease started in pigeons that frequented the parliament buildings...especially those jurisdictions contemplating banning guns! Some say that losing one's head started in the council chambers, and spread to similar "bird brains" outside. Highly contagious, but usually affects those of lower IQ first.:D
 
I had the same problem, years ago, with my geese being decapitated. Solution was a lot of pateince/scouting and a 20 ga. = one less weasle/martin in the world.
 
'crop circle' is really just a general term for any formation formed in a field. Round or otherwise. They're mostly round cause it's the easiest shape to produce.
