This was something I was looking to purchase for a while now.
I wanted a dedicated spotting scope tripod, to be used on a straight spotter, prone field shooting only.

Most tripods we're either too expensive for my use, too tall, too heavy, too big for my rush 24 bag etc...
Found this for 70$ on amazon. Was ready to pay up to 140$ for a quality one, but in this small size they are hard to find.
Yes it's Chinese, but looks and feels more than sturdy enough for it's limited weight to be carried on.
When the feet are locked in a spread position, feels very solid, for it's intended use once again.

So now I got a compact tripod for a compact spotter, that fits well into my rush 24 with many mags, 120 rounds of ammo, etc etc...
Comes with a camo bag too which I didn't know before ordering, they almost knew it would end up on a spotter!

Will do,
December 15th it’s comming out with me for a 3-4 hours shooting session prone in the snow.
We’ll soon know how well (or bad) it is affected by adverse weather.
Almost wishing for a snow storm to really try it out!

I have a very similar one also from Amazon but under the neewer brand. It has proven to be very sturdy and useful. Mine goes up to about 64" though so I can use it from standing.

That's good to know I have a heavy camera tripod that has the pole that can be reversed it works pretty well for my spotter

I purchased the neewer at first too, to initially use spotter.
I could also use it standing fully extended.
Using it prone hurts my neck as it won’t go as low as i’d like, been searching for this low height / tripod construction style for quite a while now.
They are not that common.

When folded down a breeze to carry.

Almost fits in an SMK box!

This mini tripod has lot’s of bang for the buck.
Perfect for the prone shooter looking through a straight spotter

Does that cheap unit actually allow you to see stuff your rifle scope doesn’t?

A Leupold Mk4 12-40x is not high end I will give you that, but I wouldn't necessarily call it cheap.
At 300M, yes, it will clearly see bullet holes when my rifle scope cannot see them at that distance (on a black target).
Also the vortex razor parallax is somewhat not in line with it's hash marks, so prefer looking for mirage in my spotter when I can.

Oops my apologies, I should have read your post more carefully. I was thinking the spotting scope was 70$. I realize it’s the tripod that’s 70$.
