well I just bought my SKS from them last week and I called to see if they will give me a crate at the special price. Having gotten my money, they said NO. Too bad so sad.

Yup, I've seen this happen before. They've saturated the market with this influx of Russian SKS rifles and Czek ammo. The distributors and retailers have a fair investment tied up and they need to get some of their money back.
Same thing happened with surplus Garands, Enfields, Martinis and Mausers.

I'm still surprised that the RC mausers, Yugo rebuilds and Mosins are commanding the prices they do. It is a pleasant surprise though as it makes the rifles purchased years ago look like good investments.

I think it's going to be too costly. The crate weighs 26kilos! $60?!?!? Update: well, says the minimum is $40 from their website for 1000rounds... "Minimum shipping charge is $25.00 for firearms and $40.00 for 1000 rounds of ammunition".

If you are ever going to make the journey to Epps, they're selling for $179/crate. I bought one. Looking to buy another crate whenever I'm in the area to shop for more goodies.

Thanks, I just saw that. Still $350 for the rifle and the ammo, and $65 for shipping - $415 total - is the cheapest I have found so far. Similar rifles with a case of ammo and shipping elsewhere would be $480 and up.

Sadly, I'm about 340KM one way from Epps, so it's cheaper to ship it than to drive there . I've never been in Epps, but I'm pretty sure a visit there would cost me plenty

SFRC (dealer here) is only an hour away and they have it in stock, so that might be an option too...
