Hey guys I found a crate of 54R today in Halifax cost me with tax 380$ FFS ... Ha well thats 8.50 a box B4 tax ...

Sh!t I had to beg him to sell me the whole lot... all he kept saying is well dude im out if you buy it all... lol

So did I overpay ? Or was it a good find ?

Now at least I have ammo :D

:dancingbanana:

shouldnt this be in the ammo section?
anyways when i baught my case from marstar 2 months ago it cost me 300 dollar shipping and taxes included.
at local gunshows ive seen the case going for 320$

so 380 might be a bit on the high side but still much cheaper than factory ammo

aye, keep in mind Mosins are hard to feed in Canukistan. Factory ammo is roughly $2 a round now and surplus comes in spurts and almost always is sold by the crate for double the price of x39. If you want something to go plinking with on a regular basis, I'd avoid Mosins.

I'd honestly suggest an SKS.

Case of Czech x54r = $0.40/round roughly, IF you can find it.
Case of Czech x39 = $0.17/round roughly, and it's pretty easy to find.
Remington .22LR 50 pack = $0.15/round roughly.

I was looking at selling my mosin to fund a .22 until I did the numbers on x39. Considering I can get an SKS and mod it for less than an equivalent .22 setup, I'm going the SKS route.

X2

For around $500 you can get a Russian SKS and a crate of ammo (1120 rds).

This is by far the cheapest centrefire to shoot!:D

the spot i just bought the SKS from will not ship ammo :(
anyone know any online spots in Canada that will ship a crate of SKS ammo?

There goes my idea of buying a Mosin :p
Does he have any 54R left? [i know who you are speaking of]

Army Navy surplus in Halifax is all sold out thanks to me ... :dancingbanana:

Just got my tokarev 7.62x25 so I just got a crate og that for 340$

I spent almost 1000$ on ammo in 3 weeks... Might have to sleep on the couch if she finds out...

but she will be gratefull when the zombies come... :adult:

thats cool, you saved me some bigger bucks do to me planning on using the Mosin as my main plinker gun.
With the SKS ammo supposedly being exponentially cheaper and ArmyNAvy having an over inflated price on the Mosin i wanted its a win-win for both of us :) So i guess the gloating of buying everything out from anyone else that would have been interested is somewhat tolerable

Yup, check with the sponsors up at the top:

Marstar, Frontier and Moving Target and several others do ship ammo.

Check cost of the crate plus shipping (even the cheapest crate might be the most expensive if the shipping cost is outrageous.
