Well I was at the gun store the other day, while picking up a few different shell holders, I spot an ammo can through the glass display case sitting on the floor, So I asked if it had anything in it, and if it was for sale, and while unfortunately it wasn't full of whats listed on the ammo can its still pretty decent so I made an offer. Had good luck with 7.62 lately, Some of you might remember the 200 rounds in battlepacks I traded for a $20 scope base a little while ago too.

Canadian Armed Forces want their stolen ammo back!! Belted ammo in more than 5 round belts and for guns made after 1946 [?] are,, questionable, I believe. Might be why the price was low??

Is that the siren of the Military Police that I hear coming your way...looking for their missing ammo.....lol

Love how stupid that rule is, I have a bunch of 8mm on an old german belt which according to rules is no problem, but you put more than 5 rounds on one of those belts you are running a prohibited device.

Jealous too, my m-305 is feeling unloved, because I haven't shot her for ages.

Nice score. Every once in awhile there are some good things out there that just get stumbled upon. I bought a packed ammo can full of IMI 5.56mm and IVI 7.62 last summer on the cheap, at a garage sale.

I believe any thing belt driven prior to 1945 is OK cause it's "historical" so the 8mm should be great, I've got fabric belts in my 1918 Vickers that are "?" OK, maybe , but in my 1953 Browning .50 I have cases with no primers. Big dewats look better with a belt hanging out the side. Your IMI 5.56 might be scary,,,,,,,,,,,

its not like anyone has the weapon system to support the belts anyway. TBH I know people who have gotten linked IVI 7.62 and they just strip it out of the links and throw the link away. you can buy empty links at any surplus store, and or anyone who has the time you can take any old .308 ammo and link it up, so I cant see it being a problem, or an enforcable one anyway.

As enforceable as owning a prohib mag without owning the gun for it.

Well that's not true at all.

Also - Bill Etter (chief tech at the RCMP lab) has CONFIRMED that M2A2 link belts consist of multiple one-shot magazines - disassembled or fired - and when assembled qualify as belts for a pre-1945 machine gun.

There is no legal issue having 5+ round belts of 7.62x51 on M2A2 links. HOWEVER - Bill did say the difficulty in ALL these scenarios is proving to the authorities that you are 'correct' in your interpretation of the law. All being said, who would the Crown call as the expert witness against you? Bill Etter. :)
